I have one of those dickhead friends. There's a working men's club nearby and our dad's both got us memberships (since us sissy boys would never be able to just walk in and get one ourselves)
The atmosphere in there is great. It's 2 quid a pint for almost everything, some people bring their doggos in so you can give them belly rubs, there's a roaring fire when it's cold and there's a good selection of beers and lagers. There's also a pool table that you don't need to pay for and plenty of TVs dotted around the room with different things on.
Anyway recently he keeps saying we should go to the other pub up the road. It's basically filled with wankers from the local college who look like the pic and yuppies. There is only like 4 chairs so you have to stand, it's always cold, there is no beer garden, the minimum price for a pint is 3.50 and they just play shit music really loud.

No, you're supposed to ask for their manager. Frontline staff aren't allowed to bend the rules or make exceptions, their job is to follow processes and hit targets. Even if they could, they usually won't because then it's on them if that was the wrong thing.
If you have a legitimate exception then ask for their fucking line manager, that way the person won't give a shit because it's not their arse on the line.

Done it twice in my life, both times with heavy support to find work. In employment within the month of signing on.
One time I broke down and they hugged me and gave me a food bank voucher.
Getting the money was a fucking hassle and I had to fight through the call centres a few times because they can't get anything fucking right at that end, but on the advisor side, I couldn't believe how different it was.
I'm not saying you're all lying, I heard the guy in the booth beside me being treated like shit.
They put me in for a CV workshop once, me and one other guy showed up, the course runner didn't. We ended up with the centre manager having to sign our sheets because we refused to leave until she did (because we knew damn well we'd be sanctioned for "no show" otherwise, we were well onto their bullshit). She tried to advise on some work stuff. The other guy was not applying for jobs that did a CRB check because he had one thing he did as a teenager. He was in his 50's and it was something minor. She acted like he was some fucking criminal. I actually went through how to get his own CRB check with him. IN FRONT OF HER. So that he could know if he was cleared now. (He was in his 50s and it was a drunk and disorderly when he was 18 or some bullshit. Something that's not likely to stay on his record after 11 years.) He openly told her that he'd got more help from me in that half an hour than he'd got from JCP in the last 8 months.
She looked like she'd been smacked in the face.
