The blood is coming from somewhere in your lower intestine or colon.
If it were in the upper intestine it would be brown, and you would also likely be puking up what look like coffee grounds.
You should still seek medical attention immediately, but it is probably not as bad as an upper GI bleed. If you are frequently shitting copious amounts of blood, than call 911 and tell them that you have a hemorrhage in your lower GI.
But even if it doesn't seem like a lot, you should still go to a hospital immediately. If you can't drive or don't have someone to drive you, call 911 and tell them you have a lower GI bleed.
