I feel like this is just bait from the mods to get us banned for complaining abotu 4chan. I AM NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT 4CHAN IT IS A NICE WEBSITE THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT.
That said:
1) Remove all the "mod judgment" rule bans and make mods subject to peer review. I'm talking a lot more transparency.
2) Virgin-only r9k. Or some other board like it. Reddit has SRS so 4chan deserves it's own retarded echo chamber (oh wait we have /pol/ never mind)
3) Quest threads on /tg/ get their own board. This benefits quests because they last longer as a result, and keeps them out of /tg/, "Just filter it" is a stupid answer, it's just sweeping a potential improvement under the rug. I don't even hate quests but they are a large enough part of the board to deserve their own, IMO.
4) Add some sort of IP based function that saves your recent post history so I don't have to have a fucking massive list of bookmarks just to follow threads I'm into.
5) Add a 72 hour archive to /b/. I might actually browse the board if I could post and come back to a thread when it is archived.
6) No more "quality of posts" crap because it is subjective and there need to be some hard guidelines about what is and is not "garbage." I think the mods do a great job for the most part but even 4chan is vulnerable to corruption.
7) One captcha per 24 hours. No separate window crap, just solve the captcha as it is but it disappears for at least 1 hour. Why the fuck do I need to solev a captcha for EVERY post. Spammers can still get past them by hiring Pradeep to solve captchas for them for like 8 hours.
9) I really dont know what number I am on anymore and too lazy to scroll up. I would remove "no image-only" replies on r9k, I think images by themselves are fine, I really don't see how that undermines original content. But then I'm not a huge fan of the robot in general, it persecutes simple responses such as "yes" and then is easy to bypass for larger stories / pieces of OC.

I don't think it is viable to drive OC creation with a restriction on posting something that's already been posted. I think real "meme creation" happens when a ton of shit is posted constantly and eventually something new comes out of it. But really, has r9k become that much more original? People bloxpost left and right and the mods ban only a small fraction of them, kind of like getting nabbed for smoking pot in a city full of stoners. I like the idea of the robot but it needs to be rethought. I don't know the solution though so I guess that's just pointless bitching.

I don't know, I think r9k is just kind of dead, the same way /b/ is. Media attention and reddit attention caused influx of users. I came here in 2012 so I am pretty guilty of that too (I'm also probably one of the few users who actually didn't come on here until age 18. I never watched porn until age 18 either).
I think our best hope is to either adapt to the new r9k or just abandon it.
I can't think of really much else to improve. Hiro mentioned voting... I think ban appeals should be put to a vote (secure vote) but there is so much potentially wrong with that idea that maybe not. It should be limited to non v& bans though.
