This is my setup, I didn't know what a large was. So I bought a saber and a large for my warriors to see which was better. I never know which weapon is the best for warrior.
I also made my names to symbolize the warriors were the alpha males.is it fighter or warrior?

and the saber is better, "large" is a large dagger, usually equipped on b mages.

His setup is actually superior to that. Magic is very nerfed in the NES version due to the INT bug causing INT not to influence the attack / healing power of spells, so even a Red Mage casts spells just as effectively as a White Mage or Black Mage.
Fighters are highly resilient and can plow through anything. Even going at the game with four fighters would be easier than adding any mages into the mix.

You may want to do a bit of grinding and teach your Red Mages FIR2 or LIT2 before heading into the Marsh Cave to the southwest. I'd suggest around level ~15 for everybody if you're new to the game. Bring along at least one Tent, and a stock of Heal and Pure potions too. You'll need to use the Tent as soon as you leave the cave so you can save your game and not get killed on your way back to town.

Lots of replayability, lots of great abilities and cool looking enemies to use them against and lots of fun in general.
