What are some good movies?
I really love Take Shelter. Overlooked and underrated modern American classic, in my opinion.
Watch the French movie Martyrs.
Don't ask questions, just do it.
It will make you a better person. It will make you think.

Network is a film worth watching.

The new Ghostbusters. Really loved the writing and how the diverse cast brought the characters to life. The comedic timing of these women is just superb, they can easily hold their ground against the classics. Most of the people who hate it though are misogynists and racists so all the more reason to watch it I say!

Insomnia. Al Pacino is an astounding actor.
A Most Wanted Man
Falling Down with Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall.
Get the Gringo

10000000% absolutely this
Trips don't lie OP
What Kubrick film(s) should I watch next senpai? I have never seen any of his movies and just finished The Shining which was actually pretty creepy and Full Metal Jacket.
Film kinda went downhill after Pyle killed himself and they went to Vietnam though.
>i put a political hat on a anime character and just came up with a excuse to post it
Frailty
Se7en
The Ring
Happiness
Can't get any edgier
Alien, Aliens, Blade Runner, Gattica, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Planet of the Apes (original), Robocop, Run Lola Run, Soylent Green, The Matrix, The Big Lebowski, Stalker (Russia), Star Wars IV & V, Mr Nobody, Roar, Best of Both Worlds: Chicks with Dicks

agreeing with Alien, Planet of the Apes, Robocop, and Stalker
>>27324699
While I'd usually suggest watching them in chronological order, A Clockwork Orange or Barry Lyndon would probably be your best bets. Dr Strangelove or 2001 A Space Odyssey might be a little slow for your taste. Eyes Wide Shut is his best but you deserve to see everything post Paths of Glory first.
>>27324712
those FUCKIN hats man
fuckin triggers me every time
especially whens its on a anime character i actually like
>>27324699
A Clockwork Orange or 2001. My favourite is Barry Lyndon but that is one of his slower moving ones.
some shit I saw recently that I liked
>memories of murder
a movie about these three fellas trying to crack a crime case about a dude that keeps murdering chicks when it rains. really good movie, looks pretty, and has a neat ending.
>rosemary's baby
spooky kino about a lady experiencing a strange pregnancy. looks pretty, is pretty spooky, and also has interesting characters.
>it follows
another horror flick but this one is about a weird aids monster that people contract by having sex. it falls apart in like the final third of the movie and the characters start coming up with a strange nonsensical plan to kill the monster but other than that its fine.
>>27324819
It just doesn't work on any level. The characters are uninteresting, the world has no depth, it's visually boring, I figured out what the twist was going to be before halfway through, etc. What's there to like?
>>27323647
Miller's Crossing
Ed Wood
Collateral
House (Japanese)
Romero's first three "of the Dead" movies, Night, Dawn, and Day
Halloween
>>27324850
Planet of the Apes and Soylent Green don't get enough credit. I've gotten to the point where I'll watch anything with Charlton Heston in it. That dude knew how to choose movies.
Also, I recently missed out on a chance to watch Forbidden Planet. How good is it? What is the appeal?
Last cab to Darwin left me with a comfy but weird feel at the end
out of the 80 movies I've seen in the last few weeks, these are the only I'd consider watching again: henry fool, baraka, holy mountain, andromeda strain 1971, beverly hills ninja, krampus, cargo, ben hur 1959, the hidden. It's been a lean month.
I've used My Dinner with Andre and Lost in Translation for friend simulation a shit ton. I rewatched Lost in Translation over and over for 24 hours straight when I was becoming a recluse.

>Forbidden Planet. How good is it? What is the appeal?
It's good, thought it's certainly a product of its era. The pacing and dialogue is a little hokey for today's audience, but the effects are still great and the story and characters are engaging. It's by far one of the best sci-fi fares of the 1950s, setting the standard for all the parodies and wannabes that came later. Walter Pidgeon is very good plus straight-faced Leslie Nielsen is a treasure.

24 Hour Party People

>>27323647
You ever seen Clue, OP?
>>27325493
Really? Everything mentioned here is pretty entry-level.
I'll be watching weekend at bernies tonight
>>27325471
django>other tarantino
>>27325471
>he enjoys the works from tarantino
>>27325598
Django would've been far more poignant and less satisfying if it had ended before Tarantino's cameo. I also contend Reservoir Dogs is still his best
>>27325611
And Polanski was/is a pedophile. Doesn't make The Ninth Gate any less superb
