Raising a child is effort, responsibility and work that frankly I do not want to deal with. And even if it wasn't for that, I don't really see the positive of "carrying on my genes" in the first place. What the hell do I care? No amount of my genes being in something is going to stop me being stone cold dead in the ground.
I'm not criticizing anyone who does want to, and I understand the biological argument. But I don't see why I'd ever want to do it myself. It doesn't seem like a remotely appealing concept to me.
