Social isolation would probably be a lot harder without the internet. Instead of being able to get all of my entertainment in my room, I'd have to resort to books or going out with friends. I think you're right.

The internet only sucks, for me, because I'm sensitive and impressionable and the swirling hatred that comes from these sites feels like a brain infection I can't get rid of. If I had stayed in my own little world where I belonged, none of this shit would've even touched me and most people would've continued seeming like aliens to me instead of people I need to engage with or can actually empathize with (in the shittiest possible way).

But, on the other hand, typing all day long has made me more articulate with writing, and argumentation has forced me to evaluate the things I think and believe.
