In my case it was a bunch of guys originally. We just played this one game all day 5+ days a week. We were all in high school or just out and were socially awkward, below average looking guys and got along well.
Whenever a girl would come into the group everyone got weird. They all wanted to be more than just friends with her (I was guilty of this on occasion) and would start to hate other guys who appeared to be closer to her. Caused a lot of fights and people only really left when an event like this would boil over.
