Thinking is superior to "feeling."
Judging is superior to "perceiving."

How do you manage?

The thing that keeps me going is the idea that bad moods are like clouds, and good moods are like the sun. Clouds will come and blot out the light, and it feels like it's completely gone from your world. You just have to remember that the sun's still there, even if you can't see it. Look for the little breaks in the overcast skies where the light shines through. And that someday, the sun will shine again.

MBTI is like the left brain right brain meme.
While the 16 personality types use their brains differently, it's ridiculous to think all that listed traits apply to every person who is tested as a particular personality type.

Let's have something new for this MBTI thread. I have a couple questions especially for those anons who are at least somewhat familiar with Myers-Briggs and cognitive functions and also capable of introspection. I'm asking these because I'm interested to hear your thoughts and descriptions of functions in addition to all those websites which all have a little different descriptions.

1. How would you describe your personal ways of judging (aka Thinking and Feeling) and perceiving (aka Sensing and Intuiting)? For example as in how you make decisions, handle values, introspect, solve problems, notice, gather and process information, interact with external world and people, etc. As said, these are just a few examples and you can write freely. If you know about your cognitive functions, you can also describe them and their workings instead. Basically I'm asking you to describe your internal and external functioning in relation to concepts from Myers-Briggs and Jung.

2. Your supposed type.

Not really related to my questions above, but here's two cognitive functions tests which aren't posted very often. Instead of letter pairs these tap into functions behind those letters.

>you are a walking intj meme
It's as if you believe that people are robots, and the 16 personalities represent the 16 modes which they can possibly adhere to. It does not work that way in reality. The MBTI cannot be validated, yet so many blindly accept this fad as fact.

Source?
It cannot be scientifically validated, as in the test score interpretation is inconsistent. Just how you're feeling influences the result. While someone may be labeled INFJ, they can receive an entirely different label in a matter of months. The assessment is infamous among psychologists for being so unreliable.
>has already been validated
No, the MBTI is not a theoretically validated assessment of personality.

>>

>>27295139
This is from Dario Nardi's EEG's. For some reason not all of them are posted.

Not the guy you replied to btw. For some reason certain personality types have certain brain patterns, unique ones. INTJ's have full brain concentration (flow states) for almost everything they attempt which is why they're so good at concentrating. ENTP's have christmas tree like brain patterns with different parts of the brain having hyper activity which explains their creativity and lateral thinking.
>>
>>27295139
I could give you a source but I don't like INTJs. I think I rather torture you with the possibility of proof being out there but you will never be able to find it. Your euphoric ego would never be able to handle the collapse anyway.

>It cannot be scientifically validated, as in the test score interpretation is inconsistent.

Nobody said the test is 100% accurate. Just because your test result changed doesn't mean your type changed. Your type is already set in stone and the test helps you find it. Just like if you took a test that said you were black that doesn't mean you are now black in real life. It means you mistyped.

e.g the traits must be, and every INTJ would be set at the center of the type spectrum?

First time taking this test. Is this good?
>>

Well, as an INFP, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at judging people. Even though it's probably not the best habit, I tend to just assume what a person is like from the way they look. Every now and then I find myself surprised when they act contrary to my assumptions.

I defintely put on a facade around most people I meet for the first time. Although I'm finding that my time spent as a NEET is making me less sociable than I already was.

Same here except not just off their looks. I can say I am a pretty good judge of character and if I don't like someone, I almost always am right when they end up being a shitty person.

Question for you though: How do you think other people see you versus how you really are?

I feel as though people do not see me the way I am and it's hard to get them to see me as how I am on the inside because I'm never what they expect but they never care enough to find out anyway. I guess that's just a problem with being ugly.

>>
>>27294888
When I want to explore a new concept, I look through as many different perspectives as I can. Then I try to piece everything together in a way that makes sense according to the information that I've gathered, instead of information that makes sense according only to my own values. I am constantly try to make sense of everything. I always want to remain open-minded to new ideas and beliefs, even if they conflict with my own. Getting caught in a rigid state of narrow-mindedness is something that I fear. At the same time, I never want to force my own values onto other people. I believe in compromise and do my best to balance other people's values with mine. Because of this, I'm uncertain of my own values and feelings most of the time. I make decisions in a similar way. I go through my options carefully while exploring and discovering new possibilities.

My test results are almost always INFP. Although Ne and Si seem accurate, I don't believe Fi and Te. Fe and Ti look like they would fit better in my case.
>>
Like always I get the same result...
I treat this test more as a glorified horoscope though. It helps me a lot to know why things are the way things are. Also helps me in relationships with people. I like to find out the types of people, so I can analyse them further and let them know I really understand them.

A few weeks ago I analysed someone who needed that for his project. He said he had never gone down the rabbithole that deep.
>>
>>27295755
Ahh, I know that feel all too well, my friend. That feeling of being reserved in opening up to someone for fear of them not caring. Why would they care about you? Just what are you to them? These are the questions that keep me up at night. Why would anyone care about me, when I don't even care about me?

And I think that mindset explains a lot about me. Anyway, I imagine strangers see me as a normal-ish guy, nerdy, quiet guy. My family probably sees me and thinks I'm a less than normal, nerdy, quiet guy who's boring as shit. Probably slightly worried I might kill myself. Only because most of the stuff I'm interested in is pretty off beat.

Hmm yes. As a fellow INFP, I understand this very well. I feel like I'm always looking for the "right" way to feel in certain situations. Like, what's appropriate? What should I say that will please the person or group I'm dealing with, that I won't regret later? This can make me feel very indecisive.

They both use Se which is opportunistic.

Let me elaborate why I call it a glorified horoscope. Some people tend to believe a bit too much in this method. Different situations can make you different types. They are not set in stone and always fluctuate.

The reason why I compare them with horoscopes, is that they can be unreliable. But if you believe in them and act on them, they could be very beneficial for you.

I know what you mean. When life hits it hits hard. I've learned to appreciate any downtime or free time I have to relax and enjoy.

Most people here don't even know how MBTI functions work. Enneagram will fry their brain. I'm a 7w8 though (sx/sp).

Do you have the one on INTP too?

It's not even close to horoscopes. That's just your own dumb assumption. Stop being a retard.

INTP here.
my boss is INTP.
most of my coworkers are ISTJs. I look at them as useless and obsessed with rules.
one coworker I work with is ESTP. he's always wheeling and dealing.
my bosses boss is ISTP, he's pretty cool.

MBTI congitive functions are real. They're our preferred framework which developed early in life. Its only a small part in our minds, the way how we perceive things and think about them. So yeah just because there are 16 types, two people of the same type can still be very different in personality and behavior.

also stop calling intjs fedoras, some might be but being an intj doesn't make you a fedora. i've worked with a few intjs who are cool*, do good work, and are married, thin, watch sports etc.

* = but a bit arrogant

Epic meme my faggot

Exactly this. Calling them horoscopes is maybe a bit too far stretched and wrong. I'd have to admit that.

I'm just skeptical on the people that blindly trust this to solve all their problems.

I'm not buying it

How would brooding autists work with over excited kids-show hosts or IRL shounen protags?

INFJ

Ni isn't actually a judging functions so maybe a lot of people get confused. Ni to me is like a constant flow of ideas evolving from one form to the next, never completely changing but developing into something that may appear different. I don't make decisions based on my Ni alone but it creates the path which leads to them.

Fe is harder to deal with, it's like this constant itch to see everybody calm and on the same page and if things aren't going well then I become either anxious or frustrated and angry. Generally I'd describe myself as a people pleaser but there are some situations which I can identify as not being worth it, I post on /pol/ some times and think a lot of there is too much focus on social issues that are constantly brought up just to cause artificial conflict as a distraction from the real issues.

Ti is my curiosity function and works well with each function in it's own way, it's kind of like the code from which things work. Lately I've been trying to exercise my Ti by using it to try understand why I am acting the way I do ie if I get angry over something first thing I do is try to calm down then search my Ti to think of ways to deal with it. Sometimes I think I just need an IxTP to study.

Se is no doubt my weakest function, it appeals to the side of me I don't normally show or deal with. For example sometimes I just like to walk some where and listen to music and the whole atmosphere feels really calming. Also I think Se is rather sexual, because it's my weakest function I find it hard to control (I think INTJs would have the same problem) and think that sex with an Se+Fe user (ENFJ or ESTP) would be rather intense.
