Your typical orbiter is the guy that got lied to growing up. Maybe he watched too much TV, maybe his parents misinformed him, it could be any number of things, but the main idea is that the orbiter has the idea that the trajectory of a romantic relationship is to be friends with a girl, get to know her really well, always be there for her in her time of need, and eventually if he keeps doing this she'll realize that he was "the one" and express her feelings for him and then he can admit he had feelings for her all along and the two live happily ever after.
