Mandela effect means something you remember differently clearly but is something else
The theory behind it is that we're slipping into alternate realities
ex:
Most people remember BerenstEin bears but it's actually BerenstAin bears.

Most people remember south america under north america but it's 1000 miles to the east on all maps
>>
>>27273323
This is fucking retarded, Occam's razor yo. Wouldn't the more likely reasoning be that people have bad memories and just mis-remembered rather than they slipped into an alternate universe. It seems to me like a cop-out more than anything...
>>
>>27273364
Occam's razor is subjective
Plus framing sentences makes it more ambiguous
>Is it more simple that the neurons in their brains corrupted or that it just changed

With occam's razor, to be right, you have to reduce both sides down to the simplest wording for it to be fair
>What's more simple: It changed or people's memories are wrong?
>>
>>27273323

>DUDE MUH REDDIT SCIENCE LMAO
>>
>>27273480
Are you helping me...? Because that just makes what I'm saying stronger. But it's not even that it changed, it's saying that people fucking teleported through space-time and landed in an alternate universe....

Everytime a memory is recalled, the memory changes slightly.

It's not improbable that thousands of people would remember something incorrectly, and then be surprised when someone explains the truth behind it.

>BerenstEin bears

When we read these books we were little kids just starting out reading, and the name is in cursive, AND a lot of adults were pronouncing it BerenSTEEN so it's no surprise that some people remember it wrong.

>South America shifted east

Shitty maps

>japan shifted northwest

Confusing it with the Philippines. Japan always had snow monkeys, so it was always north (Hokkaido being the northernmost big Japanese island) It had to be north for there to be snow monkeys.

>NZ shifted east/south isn't as close to Australia

dunno about this one. Probably shitty maps again.

>My mum and dad swear it was E, and they were adults when I read them

They most likely didn't pay attention.

I was 10 when I noticed it was Berenstain and even back then people were pronouncing it STEEN.
>>
>>27273955
The answer is you didn't pay attention in geography

Admitting when you're wrong is a valuable life skill
>>
>>27272905
>>Sex IN the city

Oh, for fuck's sake, that's even a fucking joke on Peep Show. You're not some special snowflake from a parallel universe.
>>
>>27274003
>Admitting when you're wrong is a valuable life skill
Right back at you...
>>
This is because people can't admit they suck at geography and spelling

But the idea of being wrong is so painful to them that they appeal to ludicrous ideas
>>
>>27274040
So we moved into a parallel universe? And your proof is that you DEFINITELY aren't remembering things incorrectly?

Well I guess I concede, maybe we will move into a universe where you have a good memory next time

This is probably just a little factor of people just assuming stuff then when it comes to their attention that they're wrong they get confused. Like the little trick where you add an extra "the" into a sentence and tell the reader about it.

no it doesn't. "it changed" posits whole new physics* and realms of existence and means of mass transportation of individuals throughout this only slightly different world. saying people's memories are wrong is orders of magnitude less complicated.

*the closet you will get is the many-worlds interpretation of QM which is not at all orthodox and is often thought of as physically meaningless

http://deletedwikipedia.gawker-labs.com/wiki/Taured_mystery

On what appeared to be a normal day in 1954, a Caucasian-looking man dressed in a business suit arrived at the Tokyo International Airport. When the unidentified man handed over his passport to be stamped, he was immediately taken away for interrogation about his nationality. He spoke French as his native tongue, but was also fluent in Japanese. While his passport appeared to be authentic, it was issued by the non-existing country of "Taured". Confused, the airport interrogators asked the man to locate the whereabouts of his country on a world map. He immediately pointed at the Principality of Andorra, a tiny European country nestled between the borders of France and Spain. The man insisted he had never heard of a country by that name and that "Taured" had existed for more than a thousand years. He further explained he was in Japan on business, something he had been doing the past few years. Bizarrely, his passport was covered in customs and visa stamps, confirming earlier visits to Japan and other European nations. He also carried legal European currency with him. Things were further complicated when the man presented a drivers license and a checkbook, both issued to him by "Taured".

Uncertain what to do, Tokyo airport officials decided to temporarily keep the man in a nearby hotel until a final decision could be reached. Two immigration officers stood guard outside the door until the next morning. That day, it was discovered that the mysterious man had completely vanished without a trace from his hotel room, a fact which troubled the immigration officers as the only exit (besides the door) was a window with no ledge, located fifteen stories above a busy street. Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department launched a thorough search for the man, but he was never seen again.

I've been hardcore into Looney Tunes cartoons since childhood and it's always been Tunes, people are getting confused with Tiny Toons, Terrytoons, Cartoon Cartoons, Nicktoons, etc.

The very early 30s Looney Tunes had actual "tunes" in them, it's a pun, popular songs of the time were incorporated into the shorts/episodes (like I Love To Singa), but eventually they went for talking animal slapstick antics which they're more known for, which also explains Merrie Melodies, the sister series of Looney Tunes.
