Who /vaporwave/ here?
It's literal robot music. Japanese, made with computers, sad af, low quality, unpopular, depressing af, slow and no one even knows it by the name.
Every time I listen to it I fall in an even deeper hole but there is something nice about it.
Vaporwave thread I guess. I'll start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_LZYFBNk9g

Best album coming through
I tried like it, I really did, but it all sounds like random 80s pop slowed to half speed with a bunch of unnecessary cuts and edits

love the art, hate the music
Not vapor, but true as fuck.

Sometimes I can't even tell whether I like vaporwave ironically or whether I actually do like it
>>27270295
that's not all of it, there are artists who actually "create" stuff
>>27270504
if you listen to the average Mac Plus artists, it's definitely ironically. Look up some playlists and you will see that you grow some kind of addiction.
https://open.spotify.com/user/iam3/playlist/17HYiAIcwlDEg5RgVkm4L7 is great for a start for stuff like luxury elite or 18c affair

>MAC PLUS
I liked Diana Ross's version better

I hate vaporwave anyway, it typically sounds like jumbled up sound clips and old 80's pop music
That being said I got this pic from another anon on here and tried a few and they just don't catch my fancy at all, any of these particularly good?
>>27271101
I have no clue mate but it's been like at least half a decade now
>>27271116
I like the more original stuff more, this repitching and chopping stuff isn't my cup of tea.
What I like is when it sounds a bit like synthwave, so actually "good-sounding". virtual information desk is pretty much

1:02 maybe a bit too articulated and fast but in general this is what I like. Reminds me a bit of Eurobeat like in Initial D
>>27271116
oh and yes, like I said, Plus is normie-tier wave. Nothing special about it
I made this while enjoying some vaporwave

18 carat affair is one of my favorite vaporwave acts. its so fuzzy. actually, i like all late night lo-fi. i equate it with long winter saturday nights where i stayed in my 15th floor apartment with a cold af frozen margarita i made in my blender while it snowed. also, i discovered it when i was 22 and just moved out of college and lost contact with college friends. havent made much friendships since. heres to the night. heres to the lonely. i love you /r9k/.
The music blows but I appreciate the neo-80s/90s aesthetic.
>>27271261
I just listen to synthwave when I crave some nice neo-80's shit, hotline miami ost etc.
Or just listen to 80's music

I've always wanted to say this in front of an audience so here we go:
To me, I love the idea of vaporwave. It's the exact kinda thing that I'm into. The whole tongue in cheek nod to the past. While simultaneously criticizing it for being shallow and artificial. I love that, but the thing that gets me is some artists are intent on being as lazy as fucking possible while hiding under the guise of "art". There's a difference between something like The Caretaker's series of albums vs. something that someone Vektroid/Macintosh Plus releases. I like when they put actual effort, some songs are just straight up pitched down with minimal cuts and shat out as something more meaningful. Artists like Espirit tend to try to actually creating something derivative and create a mood out of their pieces rather just rip straight from it.
