Can any robots in the military tell me if it's worth it? I'm 25 and don't have any good options left.

Option 1
keep my extremely shitty job which I hate with a passion and only pays $7.50 an hour

Option 2
continue to look for more jobs, which may take months/years.(took me 2 years to find my current shit job)

Option 3
military

Option 4
suicide

Can't do college anymore because I dropped out junior year and have student loans. can't pay off student loans and pay for college
>>
not in the military but if suicide is an option might as well shoot some cunts beforehand
>>
>>27258944
Work abroad maybe? Try Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc. Many countries allow visitors to work and travel by issuing working holiday visas.
>>
>>27258944
I joined the army in 2001 when i was 23. I was pretty depressed and I honestly had no friends in high school. I was bullied and worked at a gas station after i graduated for years.

The army was the best time of my life. Now 15 years later my life is at standstill again. Because i chose infantry i can't really do much but work at a hotel making shit money.
>>
>>27258944
Hum, what's your country ?
You should go in France bro
>>
The military can pay your college loans off and when you're in you barely have to pay for anything so that seems like the best bet
>>
go air force reserve or air national guard, be an electronics technician. then get a job at a chip fab for 60k+
>>
German Armyfag here (Sgt).

Yes and no. Getting into the Army in any country is basicly the same, and your gonna need to put in some work (seeing as you're a robot more than likely alot of work) before handing out your resume.
Physical Fitness plays a big role, but also knowledge, being able to work in a team, etc etc etc. You can google your countries specific tests and typical questions. If you can, get an active soldier (SGT or higher) to look at your resume to make it perfect.

You will in all liklyhood have 3 phases of testing, Physical (Sports, some running, some form of bodyweight excersise), Psychological (yes, you will have to talk to a
psychologist + officer) and the one that breaks most peoples neck at getting a decent carrier in the army the computer test (Speech, Logic, reaction, maybe: 2nd language, math + whatever you want to specialise in)
Like I said, in most cases you can google what these tests will have.
Do NOT get suckered into the "You can go in as infantry and get specialised/higher ranking carrier later on." meme those fucks spout. They have a huge problem of not having enough grunts, and if you have to deploy it's better to be a SGT and higher than fucking infantry.
As soon as your in also get informed of options regarding school/work training for when you leave the army, these infos will NOT be handed to you obviously but nearly every army has these options (yes even the US)
So yeah. If you do it, god speed and don't sign up for infantry, before you do that work on yourself to get a better position. Otherwise look for another job.

Good Luck Robot!

soll ich mich mit mittlerer Reife bewerben oder oder Abi zuende machen, auch wenn es schlecht wird(Geld unwichtig)?

It isn't about your MOS that decides the rest of your fuckin life, it's about you.
Your life is whatever you make of it. Your military service didn't permanently alter the direction of your existence. What is holding you back from doing what you really want to do? Even if you have to restart, is it not worth pursuing over that supposed shit hotel money?

Military isn't going to pay off your existing student loans by any means, but when you're in the military your entire paycheck is disposable income so you can allocate that toward debt management easily. Just have your meals at the chow hall, don't go spending money anywhere until your debt is nullified. Then after that I recommend you put at least 50% of your checks into savings.

The military isn't a bad place to get a solid foundation for the rest of your life.
The Navy and the Air Force or even Coast Guard would be the best branches to enter if you want the best quality of life while serving. Otherwise if you want a more immersive experience, go Marine Corps. It'll fuck your world upside down and make you born again. But be ready to give it everything you've got if you want to make it, because there's too many shitbags who slimed their way through and feel like the military is just out to get them because they can't shake their disgusting civilian habits of being fat lazy entitled shits.

The key to military service is humility. That's the best advice anyone's ever told me with regards to joining and continuing a career in it - that's coming from a mustang Navy Lieutenant. (mustang is someone who worked their way up through the enlisted ranks before becoming a commissioned officer, btw)
>>
>>27260323
Schnitt 3.0? rofl.

>>27260328
Actually my friend it does decide. Alot of companys don't like hiring ex-soldiers especially infantry and those that have been "in the shit". Sad but true, our world is losing respect for soldiers.
>>
>>27260428
How long does it take to be a mustang in the Air Force? I have family in the Marine Corp but I don't want to enlist in it or go to the same Universities they did. Currently an obese depressed fuck with no future, parents forcing me to go back to Uni after having a mental break down a year ago, psych ward and everything. 19 years old now. I go this fall. Currently working a part time I hate. I'd have to drop 120 pounds, change everything pretty much.
>>
>>27260473
That isn't really the case in America. You even get priority over non veterans when applying for government contract jobs which pay shitloads more than the military ever will.
>>
>>27260479
Gerfag here again.

Probably no chance for you at all. How long were you in the Psych ward and what was your diagnosis (the ones the doctors gave you, not what you say it was).
>>
>>27260479
Well in the Marine Corps you have to be at least a Corporal with a college degree to go to officer candidate school. I knew a fat ass short mexican dude who was no shit 300 pounds who made it through boot camp. It's all about how much effort you are going to give, then they'll work with you.
>>
>>27259621
Why not use the GI bill to go to college? It'll be completely free.

And why the fuck did you pick a MOS that wouldn't land you a decent civilian job?

>>27259869
College loan repayment plan was cut for some branches of the military I think?

>>27260428
I'm considering the Air Force, but my line scores aren't exactly that great. My ASVAB score was 70 though. I don't want to be doing fucking laundry or cooking for the next 4 years. How can I ensure I get a decent MOS?
>>
>>27260516
I was waiting for someone to say that. "Ooooh but look at us Americans we suck soldier cock everyday because we love them"

Yeah, only until they get out of the army and become "veterans". You guys only like active duty soldiers.
>>
>>27260555
you can come in as a civvie through OCS anyway
>>
>>27260569
You aren't even arguing any point here - what's the purpose for this retarded post?
>>
>>27260570
he's asking how long til mustang you fucking nigger
>>27260560
Air force is only looking for like a 35 asvab, 70 will qualify you for alot
on top of that they probably won't even have the fucking job you want available because some other douchebag will have filled the yearly quota slot
but ye 70 asvab is gonna let you do alot more than cook

I'm pretty sure laundry duty isn't a thing unless you're on firewatch in recruit training

if you wanna get a good MOS just talk to your recruiter
they'll try to fuck you over, but even if you sign up for the delayed entry program, you aren't obligated to go to boot camp or serve any military service. you can drop out of that shit any minute you want to, despite the lies they'll tell you otherwise. so just play them like they're your bitch, but do it in a tactful and respectful manner. don't let them walk all over you, because at the end of the day they've got an agenda to fill.
>>
If you're in the air force and aren't an officer, will you ever even get to remotely fly anything? Because from what I've read, there's a shitload of requirements to be a pilot.

I mean what's the point of joining the air force if you aren't going to be flying anything
>>
>>27260428
Civilians are entitled to the civilians association where we steal money from military workers paychecks
>>
>>27260651
less than 2% of the air force even flies
pilots are officers

you'd have a better chance of flying as a naval officer
>>
>>27260560
70 will get you most jobs in the military

When I joined I thought the ASVAB was scored like a regular test so I thought an 89 was pretty shitty so it was an eye opener when I got to basic and most of the people there got like 40s and 50s
>>
>>27260678
Do you at least get to ride with someone in a plane?
>>
>>27260722
yeah, look into air crewman
it's a pretty sweet job

Air winger culture is pretty radical and laid back
>>
>>27260740
>>27260722
your life will be like maverick in top gun
>>
>>27260740
There's a slight problem though.

I was going to the army(before researching). My army recruiter has already set me up to take the physical exam at MEPS, however I want to do the air force now. Is it too late, or should I tell the army recruiter I'm switching? I mean he's a nice guy, even invited me to lunch..
>>
>>27260779
yeah of course he's a nice guy, he wants you to join his branch so he gets a recruiter's bonus and his higher ups won't be riding his ass 24/7 about getting numbers filled

just let him off easy and tell him you wanna check out all the other branches before you decide
and if he's got a problem with that, just tell him you're done and walk out of there

they're gonna put pressure on you if you try to walk away at this point, try to guilt trip you or straight up lie and tell some bullshit about how you won't be able to join the military if you walk away, but that's all just deceitful lies because 90% of the people who walk into the recruiting office don't commit to joining

so don't take their shit
it's a big life decision for you, ensure you make the right one
>>
>>27260779
It's only too late after you sign the dotted line, you can do anything you want before that

Just keep in mind though the Air Force is downsizing the most and it's really annoying to get in. It'd probably take 6 months at the minimum to even get back into MEPS for the Air Force
>>
>>27260779
that being said you can be an air crewman in the army, navy and marine corps as well as the air force
look into all the branches to find out what you wanna do
>>
>>27260779
Of course it's not too late. Who gives a shit if the recruiter is upset with you? You realize that recruiters are picked by the military specifically because they are the sort of people who are really good at acting nice and making deceptive statements with a straight face, right?
>>
>>27260854
i liked my recruiter, never made any big promises and always said to pick what i wanted
granted he was an officer one
i can see why most people would hate them though
>>
>>27260547
Severe anxiety, thats what they told me. They said I'll be on Wellbutrin temporarily, and now I'll be fine. Basically most of the problems were psychological.

>>27260640
Good MOS for high pay low work :^) pls giv
>>
>>27260937
The pay is the same for MOS' it's the rank that makes the pay difference and how much work you do really depends on where the army decides to put you after training
>>
>>27260937
high pay in the civilian world you mean?
look for something intel or management wise
if you can get a job in MIMMS or something dealing with oracle based software you can get out and make 6 figures off your 4 years military contract

everyone will call you a pog but they'll end up working at a hotel for shit money 15 years down the road, so fuck em
>>
>>27260827
I think it's best I just tell him over the phone. He seems like he'd be understanding.

>>27260833
>It'd probably take 6 months at the minimum to even get back into MEPS for the Air Force
You mean it'd take 6 months to get sent to basic? God damn. I was hoping I could quit my job right away.

>>27260851
> be an air crewman in the army, navy and marine corps as well as the air force
Yeah but air force has better living conditions and easier PT.

I always wondered if the GI bill could be applied retroactively to student loans.
>>
I'm considering joining so I can have access to a gun to kill myself
>>
>>27261014
No.

There's a separate program called student loan repayment that handles student loans. It pays up to 65k in loans. However if you actually read the fine print, it's pretty shitty in how it works.
>>
>>27260997
>You mean it'd take 6 months to get sent to basic?

Fuck no, if you change to the Air Force it will be at least a year, you could probably get into basic for the Army in like 3 or 4 though. I went to the recruiter's office in late january, to meps mid february, and shipped off to basic in the beginning of March last year. They rush people through in the Army but the AF takes all the time in the world

Why the hell does it take so long?

Keep in mind, this is active duty. I mean, I'm taking my physical at MEPS next week. I was really hoping I could get sent to basic within a month or 2.

fuck that sucks
>>
>>27261087
That's only if you switch to Air Force though, you could probably get sent to basic in a month or two if you stick with the Army.

Air Force recruiters don't try at all that's why their people take forever to get sent to basic
