Be honest /r9k/ what is your personal favorite video game of all time
It's a close call, but
Hitman: Blood Money is mine
Some of those levels were fucking classic
What's your favorite?
>>27256189
I liked the atmosphere of Contracts more.
I feel like I cant pick a favorite game. Just one? Simply can't.
I've probably spent more time playing Civilization than any other game.
I really liked Bully.
Return to castle wolfenstwin desu
KOTOR dess
>>27256189
System Shock 2
>tfw have a thing for female synth voice
Wonderful game overall though.
Pic related.
San Andreas comes close.
>>27256189
It's a tie between Deus Ex: HR, GTA IV, Super Mario. I really can't decide, I hate to be that indecisive faggot, but I really can't.
>>27256189
honestly pic related.
i mean i spent more time playing multiplayer games but as for a single player game this was gave me the most enjoyment.
>>27256333
Bully is classic too
Great atmosphere
>>27256432
>picking cold war crisis over resistance.
Probably Megaman X / X-2. I'd say WoW because it was my life for so many years but that also comes with much pain and real-life failures whereas the Megaman games are only happy memories
It was so fucking good
GOAT game desu senpai. Didn't finish it but was impressed by the whole thing
Nothing beats this game. Lots of happy memories when re-playing it
>>27256593
Beautiful game
Luisa is my waifu
>>27256189
This is probably a combination of a good game and life being better in general. I loved using the Dark Giant power as well.

>miss playing bf 1 &2 as well ;__;
>>27256790
I was going to pick Final Fantasy XII but something terrible happened 350+ hours into that game.
>>27256189
Stronghold Crusader
To this very day I still play it since it came out.
Can I just pick one for each category instead? It's too difficult to choose just one
I'm just going to list my absolute favorites

>Hotline Miami 1 and 2
>Outlast
>Battlefield 3

Not my all time favourite but it's the one right one. I just walk around stabbing women and minorities. Great fun.
I don't have a single favourite
>Red Orchesta 2
>Hitman Contracts
>Hitman Blood Money
So comfy it helps with my sleep problems
it's not boring either, it's a playable bedtime story, in a way.
>>27257680
What a sad, pathetic life you live.
>>27256189
I was a child of the '80s, and to some extent, the early '90s. This was basically the Dark Souls of my day.
Wish I could go back
Metroid Prime, because if you ever wanted to explore and discover an unknown planet, you would want your adventure to be just like how it is in this game.
And it's really one of the best game ever made even if you were not an astronaut kind of kid.
>>27256189
Space Rangers. Every single playthrough is different from other and the world is not half-empty like in other sandboxes. Bonus points: it was made by a bunch of Russians with a budget consisting of several bottles of vodka.
>>27258473
Gr8 taste m8
Sleeping dogs, the atmosphere is just perfect
Silent Hill 2
I love it so much that I started an information catalog for it. I catalog information about each character, enemy, boss, and so on. I watch interviews, and take info from the wiki pages, and make sure to source everything. I also collect pictures, and I've been taking notes about little things I may have missed before as I play through it for the tenth time. I played for 6 hours tonight, got more than half way through. I plan to play it a few more times after I beat it to get all the endings once again.
I would post picture of my catalog but I've been up all night playing so I am now in bed on my phone.

I wouldn't believe you if I hadn't seen you post screenshots a few days ago of your info archive. It was comprehensive, and I remember you got a 666 when posting that as well.
Maybe this is what you were meant to do.
>>27258666
I remember you.
Godspeed you Silent Hill and Tom Waits obsessed faggot.
Original Deus Ex. Great gameplay, hueg levels, comfy music, and the best interactivity in any game ever. I also like Duke Nukem 3D and Postal 2 for the same reasons.
The Last of Us.
I really enjoyed to gameplay and I can relate to Joel in a weird way that I can't fully describe. Fantastic story as well, I hope they make a squeal.
It might be a meme game but I've played through this so many times. I even got a Zelda tattoo. Dark souls 1 is number two. It feels like a "grown up" version of Zelda.
Anybody else here incredibly hyped for DS3?

>>27256963
Story? FFXII is probably my favorite. I got 700+ hours in that game, and I don't think I went through what you said.
>>27256872
The first couple of games really were great sci-fi and for a game at the time the atmosphere was incredible, even 3 had no shortage of great moments. Don't let your contrarian bias against FPS games because they are incredibly popular now and what the normies play cloud your view of history and what made the games fun.
For myself quake 2 was one of the first games I remember really blowing me away but the game I love the most as well as love to hate on is World Of Warcraft, more than 10 years and I still find myself in azeroth on a regular basis.

Amazing game. I sometimes think about how amazing it would be if they did an up to date version, but they would probably fuck it up.
I miss playing this game with my old friends..

Portal 2, from story and feels aspect. FTL and Kerbal Space Program, from gameplay standpoint
Probably my most favorite game, too bad it's pretty much dead in both regular and custom. Uther Party, Footmen frenzy, the TD defense games were fun as hell.Plus I spent countless hours RPing on this game.
You're probably going to tell me to yiff in hell, but I don't give a fuck.

I'm expecting an improvement over HR, which was already 9.5/10.

>>27256189
Shit, playing it for the first time now, on the mountain brothel level thing right now. It's really fun, although really easy, i get eraser or silent assassin rating every level.
>>27256189
That's a hard one for me. But I'm going to have to say Demons Souls.
I loved Okami and Shadow of the Colossus but DeS really changed games for me. It was an amazing feel after I had completed it.
>>27258872
>>27259980
I preordered collectors edition.
Bumbed out about not getting the Gwyn statue
Metal Gear Solid 2 maybe.
I'm selling my games and consoles after Deus Ex comes out. No need for it any more. I no longer love games. It's funny, people, including my parents used to hate me for my love and obsession with vidya, now as a 22 year old my love for it has faded and that is much to do with the modern gaming industry - rehashes, micro-transactions, casualization.
Sometimes I yen to return to the good days again.

Maybe he's just a manchild.
I don't really know why, but the Mass Effect trilogy and MGS2 are my favorite.
MGS2 really surprised me, and I was so disappointed by the third game...
grand theft auto vice city. i remember my dad got it and i was told i couldn't play it so i stayed up late and watched him blow up cars.

now what was the HARDEST game you ever played?
pic related for me
>tfw you watch a playthrough years later and realize there was no way in hell you would have came close to beating it as a kid
>>27263834
Because like all the MGS games, they were boring as shit
>>27263834
I think I expected too much, the game bored me, and nothing really happens until the last two hours. But I only beat it once.
>>27263589
I feel the same way, video games are just too much of a money and time waster, these days I'm expected to pay fucking 75 euro up front for a new AAA game and it just ain't worth it.
These days, I gain much more out of watching movies since they're cheap and can give a more worthwhile experience in 2 hours than a generic AAA game can in 10.
And the only indie games I've really enjoyed were Shovel Knight and Hotline Miami, everything else is pretentious garbage.
>>27263984
>Trying too hard
Enjoy this (you)
>>27263937
OP here
I'm actually pretty terrible at any games that require more than average skill, so a lot of games are the hardest I've ever played
>tfw you won't ever finish masterworks of the medium because you rage quit like the little bitch you are
