What are some /r9k/ approved bands/albums.
Nothing upbeat, I want something depressing and grey like pic related.

Well if we're trying to stick with the meme tag then Lift your Skinny Fists fits pretty well.
There is no more robot album than pic related. It is such a robot album that there are literally zero females that listen to this song and get feels. If you don't listen to pinkerton and immediately get feels about how much of a social failure you are, you are not a robot.
Will post a few more robo-albums.
You do know that music is uaving a negative effect on your vibration and density anon? Right? Sound is vibration matter is vibration waving in a slow process this music is lowering your density please stop.
Pawn Hearts by VDGG, Fripps plays on it I'm pretty sure
Athletics - who you are is not enough

The very first fucking song on the album starts off with Rivers saying he's tired of having sex.
>most robot album
LET ME KNOW
DO I STILL HAVE TIME TO GROW
>>27253851
this album can trigger existential crisis
Modest Mouse, especially Building Nothing Out of Something.
>>27253888
That's pretty robotic, but then again, I don't consider the "robots" desperate to be normie as actual robots, more like "cyborgs" (aka failed normies).
>>27253886
This album is god tier
>>27253911
>had sex
>robot
please leave
Can someone post stuff with depressing background music, instrumentals, sounds, etc? I don't care at all about lyrics and never pay any attention to them.
Pink Turns Blue is pretty good.
>>27253895
Sounds like some Syd Barret era Pink Floyd type shit

I've never had sex, so fuck off with that. Anyway, it has to happen once in awhile that a robot happens to be very talented and makes something that induces horniness in women; Rivers Cuomo is a robot all the fucking way. Women have thrown themselves at him for a decade and he hasn't fucked a single one. He fucked a bunch apparently and then made a vow of celibacy because he wanted love. Now he's basically batman except he doesn't fight crime.
Surfer Rosa from the Pixies is really robotic
Manic/depressive, weird, repulsive and strangely alluring
Here's the first track on the album

Chopin was the original robot

This is about as good as it gets if you don't care about lyrics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrMjc4oz0mY
I've been listening to the album yanqui uxo lately, very suitably depressing. Also many by band mogwai
>>27253851
Most King Crimson isn't depressing, even Schizoid man isn't very depressing it's just fucking schizo
Anyways the blues is always good, Paul Butterfield, Muddy Waters, etc the obvious stuff
Bob Dylan, some of his stuff. I really like Highway 61
I don't listen to a ton of depressing shit, you're a fag if you want to stew in your depression. Fag is probably the best word to describe it, shit sucks sometimes but don't be a pussy and go on about boo hoo everything is so sad
Here's a great Marty Robbins song though, kinda depressing when you realize he held the right stance but lost in the end

Sounds like you want to fuck Rivers Cuomo
It's well known for a reason, and some days nothing can beat this ablum for me. The Wall captured robothood before we were really even existed.

He was pretty cute in the 90s but he's old now and I'm not.

The album is pretty good, but the language is really fucking obtuse and the story is pretty much impossible to follow without reading up on it, but overall it feels pretty hopesless and depressing.
"De-loused in the Comatorium is the Mars Volta's 1st studio album.
The hour long tragedy takes us through the tale of a man named Cerpin Taxt, as he attempts to kill himself by ingesting morphine and rat poison.
The attempt fails, and he falls into a coma for the next 7 days, in which he travels through the dream world of the Comatorium. At the end of the 7 days, he arises only to find that the world is unsatisfactory, and he (for the last time) takes his own life by jumping off a bridge.
The story is based upon a friend of Cedric Bixler-Zavala [Lead singer], Julio Venegas."
I'd recommend reading:
http://www.therealmusician.com/album-review-deloused-in-the-comatorium.html
before you listen to it. There's some pretty neat audio details you can pick out if you are familiar with the story. For example, Inertiatic ESP is about a device called the Inertiatic Ectopic Shapshifting Penance-propulsion. It's this weird "pod" used to move Cerpin Taxt from place to place where he is restrained while a massive number of spiders creep in and out of his body freely, laying eggs and such during his transit from place to place. There's some guitar bits that represent spiders and such that enhance the experience.
tl;dr skim that article or else you'll have no idea what the fuck is going on in the story arc. It's still a good listen without knowing the story though.

My favorite composer, I've learned more songs by him than any other composer. I just feel like I understand his music more than I understand other composer's music.
