For a start, buy nice looking, well fitting pants.
Go for slim fit, and make sure that they arent too long or too short. Well fitting pants are a big step in the right direction.
Darker jeans are a very inoffensive look. It's also worth getting one pair of black pants and maybe one pair of another color pants, but just dark jeans and black is fine for the start.
Look into Levis 511, they are like the standard model but feel free to try on anything that isnt regular or relaxed fit.
For tops, go for basics. No logo/no print inoffensively cut sweaters in simple colors like gray and dark colors like dark blue, maybe dark burgundy, black.
You don't have to buy expensive brands, but try to go for not trash tier quality.
For Jackets, just keep it simple too. I can post jacket inspo if you want.
