I don't like the thread system for comments. You have to reply to an individual comment or start a new comment thread. I prefer the method of 4chan's threads, where you can just click on the post number to quote multiple anons in a single post and new posts show up in order as they are posted, whether they are quoting someone or not. That's how I grew up on traditional message boards.

I personally think it's nice having a place to talk about a specific topic without constantly having to make a thread that lasts maybe 10 posts just to answer one question. It aggregates related questions and topics into one thread so there's less clutter in the board. It also attracts people with the same interest, so more knowledge is shared. I will concede that sometimes generals do go full cancer, even for smaller generals. Either tripfag drama or some faggot (or faggots) just shitposting constantly. Overall, I think if at least 75-80% of posts are on-topic, then the general is worth having. The benefits of having a community for something outweighs the potential for cancer. You'll never escape shitposting anyway.

I've used 4chan for about 6 years and Reddit for about a year, they're about the same in terms of quality of posts but Reddit is 1000 times better for porn and has little niche subreddits for your obscure interests that aren't posted about often on 4chan.
The people that hate Reddit are angsty children.

I've been banned from various front page subreddits as well for doing the same, and I keep my commentary very tame. Rogue moderators can just permanently ban you at the drop of a hat, it's irksome when you're trying to cultivate an account to spread subtle redpills.
I use Reddit about as much as I use 4chan. The circlejerk is just as bad there as it is here. I follow the subs I want to follow and ignore the rest.
There is no reason to like 4chan and hate Reddit. Both are circlejerks, both of them censor content, and both are horrible timesinks.
Reddit has actual people with jobs on their site, along with professions, skills, and knowledge. If you want to figure out something in a calm, orderly manner, you can find some real good shit via someone's first-hand experience. Along with that, regardless of quality, it produces far more OC than 4chan nowadays.
That said, the community leaves a lot to be desired in honesty. Not only are you shunned and downvoted for making an aggravated comment about something, but karmawhores will flood you with responses trying to pointlessly insist that there's a moderate middle ground to the argument. 4chan has far better opinions being expressed, people are actually honest if something is shit.
The shitposting on 4chan is a problem that Reddit doesn't have though, and it seems that every year 4chan has more and more of it while Reddit stays the same. I wouldn't blame anyone for choosing Reddit over 4chan, it's hard to justify digging through all the bullshit, pseudo-trolls and shitposting to find someone who just hates a thing. I do it mostly out of nostalgia at this point, I think.

I went on Reddit for 2 years before I went on 4chan.
Ended up trolling an account to -6000 karma by saying edgy bait crap because I hated the userbase so much.
It's all a popularity contest, it's just "downvote whatever you don't like into oblivion" and a downvote is unanswerable, you can't argue with it. So there is no discussion, only memes and rehashed shit.
I will say Reddit has a bit more OC but that's it. Most of it is just "lol" trash that's not even worth saving because the title is part of the joke so I have to screencap it to even save it, which is rarely worth it.

I regularly began using reddit after 4chan went to the hedonists
their vote system is simply broken. Every time anything controversial is said, it will get brigaded out of existence. This makes all of the subs, even theoretically neutral ones, incredibly inbred and smug in their opinions. On the bigger ones, traffic is almost certainly manipulated using behind the scenes spambots/brigading using this method
this leads to all their frontpage content being american current events being manipulated for political purposes. If you go by front subs, there isn't a single day that won't go by without THE EVIL WAR ON DRUGS somehow getting mentioned or bashed. Most of the posted links on big subs are straight unironic shilling by paid promoters as well.
