lonely is a subjective state. Some people can be lonely even constantly with friends, others don't talk to anyone for weeks and don't feel lonely, to use extreme examples.
My points are firstly that its easier to feel lonely when you work full time, because as you experienced, it takes up most of your time and for introverts it drains you so you need to go unwind alone with vidya, fapping, internets, etc. than if you had more free time in your life to live a slower pace of life and do things that are enjoyable for you. The other part is that you have to learn to be completely and utterly happy alone first, then you will be a whole person that is fun to be around, not a lonely person looking to others to fill a void in your life and boost your ego.

this is the first thing to take: watch videos of these retreats, especially the Q&A. this monk is famous and easy to follow. he is a good introduction, with some hippies flavors. he is quite rigorous in demanding that the jhanas are states where you no longer feel the 6 senses [people tend to lower the bar of these states, but they still call them jhanas]

Stupid normie advice is like just talk to people, be yourself, take initiative... I don't think I am some special enlightened person, but I do have much wisdom with regard to living a peaceful and happy life, one in which you would fare better to develop rock solid internal happiness and still be a loner than to end up being social but still depending upon external validation from people rather than being in control of your own thoughts and emotions/. Not saying you shouldn't make friends and have romantic experiences if they are available to you, but you need not suffer in their absence, and as I mentioned earlier- Instead of seeking out people to fill the depressing void in your life, when you feel happy and complete, you have a personality that attracts people, makes them want to talk to you, get to know you and spend time with you instead of run away from the smell of your desperation.
