I'm 18, born in 98. I didn't start to seriously go on the Internet until 2009.
>>
Less scripts in general.
>>
games all of the day
>>
Being able to see someone's picture was a big deal, now people post multiple pictures online and nobody cares, it seems there was less catfishing and people seemed more honest.
I actually was able to meet some people that eventually became irl friends thanks to the internet (it's easier to talk and make a connection with people online, I was never able to irl)

loads of good flash games and animations, no youtube cult of personality cancer. I miss it so much
>>
lot more anonymous, no social media. no one really used pictures of themselves online that often. aol chatrooms, instant messengers. i had so many friends back then, it seemed a lot easier to meet people online for some reason. chatroom roleplay and geocities dbz rpg websites, runescape

Do older people and people who used the internet for longer look down on people who didn't start using it much until 2009-2010
I had a super soccer mom, so no computer/internet unless it was for homework and a few videogames. Only was able to get on around 2009 because my dad got a smartphone

It was raw, and slow.

Whenever something takes a while to load and I get impatient, I sometimes recall how slow things used to be then think how I would have shit my pants if it was loading at the speed that it currently is at.

I was in 3rd grade in The early 2000's and the only thing I used the Internet for was runescape. After my parents kicked me off of runescape I don't think I used the Internet until 8th grade when I got my iPod touch and looked up "big boobs shower" on Google video

Born in 87 and have been using the internet heavily since like '92.

I genuinely miss what it was like before social media really took off.

We bought books that had programs written in basic and copied them into our computers. 6 hours later, hit run and it fails. Start checking for errors line by line.

Flash games (RIP shockwave), authenticity (what we'd call autism, underage, or edgy now), lots of time investment into your internet persona (profile, avatar, geocities page, etc.), and no IRL personal information getting shared anywhere. Not as comfy as the 90s, commercialism had started to sneak in, and more and more low-tier normies (mainly goths) started infiltrating. Think Invader Zim. If the early 2000s internet had a smell, it would be teenage BO. Video games were big, but not competitive except on a niche scale among turbonerds. Anything multiplayer and 3D was hugely popular. Dial-up faggots (like me) made FPSes hilarious/infuriating by warping around everywhere because games' netcode started assuming you had DSL. Websites started getting bloated and would take 5 minutes to load on 56k, prompting most people to upgrade. Did I mention flash games?

I think that's it.

I remember buying the first internet camera. It was black and white, colour was too expensive. We made stop motion animation and Skyped in the 90s before it was an app.
>>
Geocities was pretty powerful. You could make huge web pages with tons of frames and hot spots. You could do anything.
>>
>>27189860
No one really gave a shit about webcams because of how slow internet speeds were.

>no one really used pictures of themselves online that often
I never really thought of it like that. My concept of the internet is still that I can go there to be anything I want because nobody knows who I am in the end, but I spend the majority of my time on 4chan and similar sites. I have a facebook, but that's not what I think of as the internet. It's weird to think that someone's concept of the internet doesn't extend far beyond facebook, which I'm sure is the case for many these days.
