What format is the best? 24 series usually is too much, because it involves plots/fillers which leads to nowhere.

It depends on the writer's ability to hold shit together: if they've got the whole shebang plotted out in preproduction them it'll generally be a better put together tale than an ad-hoc plotline assembled as the series develops.

I started with Elfen Lied which was a great introduction to the violent aspect of anime. Then I watched Cowboy Bebop after hearing so much about it and I absolutely loved it, one of my favourite anime's. Then I watched NHK, and considering the fact that I was going through almost the exact same situation as the protagonist (apart from the Misaki character) involvment in my life). And then I went to watch such anime's as Samurai Champloo, FLCL, Fullmetal Alchemist (4.5 star, that shit is good), Attack on Titan and a few more that I can't remember right now.
Anime is good but the more I watched it the less I was interested in it. For some reason I just lost touch with anything and my interest for anime fell with it. I'm still in that boat.
