Honestly though tinder is a mixed bag, I've heard anecdotes of people getting matches within days but i didn't get a match until after a month. Still haven't had any of them go to sex, not of lack of trying.
2/15 matches even seemed remotely interested in sex, with maybe 10/15 even replying to my initial message.
The remaining 8 seemed more interested in just chatting, implying that they were misusing the app (using it like one would omegle).

I have a theoretical timeline where you start with doing a activity to get male friends/acquaintances, then vetting them to find one with female friends, and try befriending those males. I'm guessing total spent time is somewhere around 6 months

It's all about perception, if you look at any /soc/ tinder thread that's pretty much a proven formula for at least a little success.
You want to come across as active and interesting because surprise surprise, people don't want to spend time on things that aren't interesting. The next step is thinking about what you're going to open with. There's a set of 39 or something questions that psychologists built to make people fall in love, agree or not with the premiss they're good unagressive questions to get to know someone a little. ABC too, always be closing.

Sales talk, you're selling yourself. In the context of tinder a close is a casual fuck or a date. It's a starting contact point. Find out interests, if she likes a specific type of food or drink set up a date around that. You want to make it appealing as possible, just do it fairly quickly so you don't drift from potential romantic interest to that guy she talks to.
Also things like mirroring (where you say you like the same things she does) work well to get people to trust and like you a little more.
