I mean, it's better than one piece and other overrated action genre hits (HSOTD is actually trash). I suppose I was a bit too aggressive in my statement, but really, Higurashi is just incomparably better.
If you want an example of an excellent action anime that's also not overly popular (hipster cred), why not try Katanagatari or Kara no Kyoukai?
