Guys, I have some bad news. I don't think I like watching anime anymore.
I tried watching a few shows last night and stopped like 5 minutes into each. I ended up watching Better Call Saul for 3 hours instead.
This has happened a couple of times; instead of watching Dagashi Kashi the other day, I watched Full Metal Jacket.
Is this a phase? I'm 26, and I've watched over 400 anime series. Am I growing up? Nothing else about my life is grown-up, so why do I have to deal with this?
The only anime stuff I seem to enjoy right now is pictures of cute girls or clips from anime I've already watched.

I don't really even like watching most movies anymore, which sucks because that was the only thing that kept me from obsessing over myself (in a negative way) and thinking about other things

Maybe. I'm 27 and watched over 800 series and I think it's over for me too. I can't even enjoy moeshit anymore.
Though watching the new Aria ova made me cry so I'm not totally dead inside yet I guess.

I think you've just grown more intolerant of shit anime. Even at 400 shows watched there is still bound to be some good ones you haven't seen they are just harder to find. Taking a break from it might be good though.

No. I've always liked some western films and shows, and I've always read novels and western books.
I've always considered Japanese writing to be mostly inferior in quality to higher-end western work; I enjoy anime for being probably the greatest form of escapist entertainment.
Though I would argue that Japanese comics are far, far ahead of any other region's comics, but that has a lot to do with the way the industry is structured. Manga is also suffering because of miserable release schedules. You can typically read a year's worth of chapter releases in an afternoon.

OP again. Western cartoons are pretty garbage, especially now that flash animation exists. Moral Orel is okay, but everything else you listed is very bad.
The greatest western cartoon of all time is King of the Hill, which is a literal masterpiece. The Simpsons was also fantastic during its early years.

Try watching different genres amof anime. I found that when i started getting bored of a certain kind, watching a totally different style or genre was refreshing. Watching the same kind of anime oved and over is obviously going to get boring. The reason i have trouble is usually because watching things is too much like commitment now, though i always like manga.
