I do this all the time. It doesn't have to be particularly embarrassing, just uncomfortable. Sometimes the things I say aren't even unpleasant, I'll say shit like "I love chocolate" but it usually has to be in a long drawn-out melodic voice, almost song-like but not quite.
I then get conscious that people see/hear me and wonder what the fuck I'm doing.

This is just like me, especially nigger. I think it's the strength of those words, all three of them being stronger then most swear words. I often speak a random of yes and no like "no no yes yes no yes no" in a weird cool guy drawl like a guy narrating a movie trailer.
Nigger is done differently. It's spoken in a completely forward and neutral tone, as if I'm casually and calmly swearing, or reading from a dictionary. I say it, pause briefly and say it again, until the feeling has subsided.
