I would not be convinced it was truly the end. The asteroid that killed the Dinosaurs didn't end all life on the planet, so who is to say this one will? Perhaps it is an even larger and more powerful impact, but nothing is certain.
The mass chaos and rioting will make travel and preparation difficult, as well as family issues.
