I feel like those of us born in the early 90's were a transitional generation.
We certainly weren't "90's kids", but elements of that era were still in place (albeit fading) while we were in elementary and middle school.
I rode my bike around until the streetlights went on, my parents didn't know where the hell I was most of the time.
If someone took a dive off a ramp you had to go up to the nearest house, knock, and ask to use the landline, because the only kid within several blocks who had a cellphone was that one diabetic guy.
We played around in construction sites and abandoned buildings. No one called the cops, you just got shooed off.
You could walk down the road with a pellet rifle, no one gave a shit.
But we had flash games and (very rudimentary) video streaming while I was in elementary school. And the panicky helicopter parent mindset really started to set in right as I aged out of "kid" and into "youth".
I'm 22 and I don't feel any connection with people more than 3-4 years younger or older than me. It was a very interesting, but brief period to be a kid. The '92-'95 generation.

Fucking this dude. When I was a kid I did Army Cadets. When I first joined, we were still in that period of it being tough and difficult. But when I became a high rank and was in charge of cadets, their parents would complain over the tiniest thing and always had to know what was going in.
When I started, one evening we did building clearing an everyone got tackled and bloodied up at some point.
One of my last evenings, we taught them how to move silently after it had rained and the parents all complained because their kids got muddy and cold.
