>>
>>27113145
I would recommend the pc. What can a ps4 do better? Weeb games maybe.
>>
>>27113145
An $800 PC basically does everything a ps4 can do but better. Only thing the ps4 has going for it are console exclusive games but that's not really much when you compare it to a pc which is basically an entire entertainment system (music, vidyas, web)
>>
>>27113196
Well pc has shitty eroge and vn so i think that counts for PC too. Along with more shitty weeb games getting ported.

Ps4 is easy to use, but you might not be able to get a decent pc with 800, you may be better off on console. Depends if you are more set on indie/strategy gaming then I'd pick pc.

with a PS4 you could buy $450 worth of games

console

there is no good PC for $800 unless you want to play 2012 games in 20 fps
>>
You can build a PC for $600 which obliterates any console that here is on the market right now. Just take a look on pcpartpicker for inspiration on your build. PC is just more flexible compared to consoles, you don't have to pay for online ($60 a year) which adds up to serious sums of money in the end. There is not even a slight pro for buying a console except for the dull exclusives and the social status you get with the console itself. Think for yourself, upgrading parts is completely optional, sure if you want to play AAA-games at max settings you may have to up your budget. The consoles just is a con for for itself. Hoped this helped you

I dunno. Also this thread makes me glad I didn't have to make the choice between getting one or the other, just took patience. Do this every generation of hardware, not overnight of course. Lots of good games out there on all systems and platforms. Surprisingly been most found of my Wii U lately, Mario Maker is interesting.
>>
>>27113145
depending on how you shop:
$350 for PS4
$50 a year for the online service if you want it

that leaves you with $400 that could go to a few games, second controller or headset.

If you are really hardware savy or want to be that way take the PC route.

Specs don't matter. All that matters is does the machine play the games you want it to play or not.

Buy a pic for:
>Rts, mmo, moba, tactical shooter (e.g cs:go), sim, RPGs

Buy a console for
>racing, casual shooter (e.g cod), fighting, sports

I built a pc for about 700.
I got the parts from frys.

Here is my list if you need to know.
I already had a shitty monitor, and an old dvd drive. Monitors are around 150 and the dvd drive is like 20 bucks
Amd fx8320 cpu
16gb ddr3 patriot ram 1666mhz
Msi 970 gaming motherboard
Antec case with usb 3.0 psu included
Gtx 750 graphics card
Ocz trion ssd 120gb
3tb hdd
A generic keyboard and mouse, and a wifi adapter. I put the parts into pcpartpicker to make sure they were compatible.

I had no prior experience, I just spent some time online. It took me a day or two to built, but it was only really 5 hours max. I run a pirated Windows 7 from a friend and it works fine.

In the UK, a PS4 is the equivalent of roughly $380. Assuming you have a good TV (decent 32" Samsung is about $280 equivalent) is there really an argument for a gaming PC considering the cost difference?

8go ram HyperX 1600mhz 40$

600W psu cost 70$

mobo cost 90$

and 70$ for a good case

you can get a good pc for 800$ if you don't mind playing on high instead of ultra on recent game
>>
>>27114086

Right, so that doesn't include a monitor, keyboard, mouse, operating system, or speakers.

I am genuinely not trolling. Why is that better than a console?

A ps4 doesn't come with a TV (which includes speakers)
I got a monitor for $25 plus a kb+m for $15, speakers for $10 and you can either get Linux for free or or get Windows for $20 if you buy properly

PC is better than a console because free games (dwarf fortress, flash games, mmos) steam sales (games go for less than $10, skyrim with all dlc goes for less than $15, entire franchises go for less than $20) indie games are usually $5-10, etc.
All while big AAA blockbuster No 3847283 costs $60
>>
>>27113145
Once you get bored of gaming your PS4 is pretty much worthless. Once you get bored of gaming your PC is still a PC.
>>
>>27114318
You realize that consoles run most AAA games at low-medium settings and 920p or <1080p and less than 30 fps
>>
I dunno OP. I think you should get some cool games for that Xbox Hueg though.

In fact, you should get an old compatible HDD, a 3rd party component cable, fashion a USB connector to plug in a dongle and transfer the cfw hacked save for the compatible game of your choice (buy a copy if you don't already have one), and set it all up so you can play backups on that bad boy.
The you play Phantom Crash and Otogi and Panzer Dragoon Orta like a boss.

Hacking consoles is fun.

Plus all of the non-gaming things you can do with a PC, like makes games for free in unity, paint, write a book, do schoolwork or regular work, chat with friends for free without a subscription,
play with friends without a subscription (and the subscription ends up costing you more in the end - pic related) read a book for free, watch free movies and videos, learn stuff, etc.

Pic related- and you can even save more by buying a cheaper build

I have a second controller so that when one dies while playing I can plug it in to charge and use the other one. It also mitigates wear and tear on the controllers since all of your playtime isn't focused on just one.
>>
>ps4 is only able to play games from this generation
>games are rarely on sale, and when they are, they don't drop much in price
>the console itself is cheap

>PC is able to play games from every generation and it has emulators so you can play console games
>games go frequently on sale for dirt cheap (/r/gamedeals) and you have the option to pirate most games
>PC can be used for other things, and is way better than a laptop for general use
>multiplayer isn't shit

You tell me, Opie.
>>
>>27114492

We are comparing new for new, right? Totally unfair to compare used to new.

Legendary edition of Skyrim is 15 pounds on Amazon and about the same on Steam, so I don't buy that the game prices should be taken into consideration.

That said, a PS4 can't play PS3 games (Skyrim is PS3) which is total bullshit so that is a big plus for PC gaming. Brand new PS3 is 70+ pounds and used a bit less.

Moving on a little, how often do you have to upgrade PCs to keep up with current games, and does that offset the cost of upgrading consoles? (200 pound difference between PS4 and PS3). I can't imagine a PC that can just about run Skyrim on console equivalent settings can run Witcher 3 on console equivalent settings without swapping out some components?

Totally agree a PC can do more than a console with mods and general PC usage, but purely for the function of gaming I am not convinced that it can be justified on a monetary basis.
>>
>>27114902
Oh, and I forgot

>ps4 has one controller that you're forced to use
>with pc you can choose whether to use m+kb, ps3, 360, xbone, or ps4 controller

I personally use m+kb for fps' and a ps3 controller for everything else.
>>
>>27114909
I've had a $450 ($50 less than Xbox 1 at release) PC for 8 years and never changed components, and I still can run most new games on console equivalent settings (920p low-medium settings, 30 fps)

If you already have a computer I wouldn't recommend either.

In short, find a less shitty hobby. Video games are dead. At least PC will let you emulate old games though. I regret my PS4 purchase deeply.

Yeah, do you can run current gen stuff. What happens when the next generation of console comes out?

For example, what sort of cost would there be in upgrading a budget PC that can run PS3 games at its limit to one which can run current gen PS4 stuff?
>>
PC master race console gaming is shit plus you can upgrade your pc when you have extra money to blow not to mention the game selection is far better
>>
>>27115092
You could probably just sell your old graphics card and CPU and buy new ones for about $150-300 as opposed to the $400-$500 you need for a new console. And on PC you can always play last gen's games

I meant you only have to spend $150-$300 to upgrade your PC to next gen as opposed to buying the nex gen console which costs $400-$500 on release
>>
>>27115326
Yeah it blows for people who like to put a game in and play it because for PC you don't have to mess around with disks ;)

The "plug and play" argument for consoles is obsolete because you still have to wait Hours for the console to update to the latest software or download a game.

Kay.

I don't play either anymore because video games are really boring and gay right now.
>>
I've been just getting back into gaming. I seen no reason to jump right out and get a PS4 right now.

There are so many games on PS3 that I still never played that I want to try out. PS4 can't play those games.

I'm planning on holding off on getting a PS4 until I've exhausted what I can play on my PS3. At that point the PS4 should be cheaper.

Hopefully, I can keep saving money and put together enough to build a decent PC by the end of the year.

Is there any site that's good for picking out components?

What about the fact that PC releases are pretty much always buggy pieces of shit because no one buys PC games and developers won't bother properly releasing them anymore?
>>
>>27115484
>no monitor is going to last 8 years
Really? I have an old monitor from '08 that still works, and a mouse and keyboard. Even if they break, that's just like saying "no tv is going to last 8 years"

Also I could just use the money I saved from not having a PSN subscription to buy another monitor and KB+M for $50 total
>>
>>27113145
Chances are you already have or will get a separate PC. You'll need a computer anyways, why not just have your gaming system and PC on one device? Consolefags argument of "its cheaper!" doesn't really have any validity considering they probably own a compute in addition to their console

PC

Pros:
>Better control with kb/mouse for most games especially for shooters and MMOs/RPGs
>Can use a controller for most PC games nowadays.
>Can emulate any console that is reasonably old. I hear there is already a 360 emulator that works very well.
>You can play any PC game on any PC. No backwards compatability bullshit.
>You can pirate any single player game with no difficulties, even with all DLC packs.
>Games are cheaper anyway
>Gaming PCs do everything else well such as video/audio edits and browsing is very fast. You will not want to go back to a slow PC once you have a fast one.
>Upgradeable

Cons:
>When they go wrong, its usually a pain in the ass.
>We seem to get excluded from a lot of new games lately because of greedy marketers.

Console

Pros:
>Easy to plug in and get started. If you are a casual its probably a better choice.
>They are easier to move around I guess?

Cons:
>Jew prices on games
>No backwards compatability purely because of greedy jewness.
>The OS is very limited. Its only this generation that they have added skype compatability and were all supposed to be hyped about it.
>Phones will overtake current consoles in 5 years or less and its very likely that consoles will just die out.
>>
>>27115639
seem pretty accurate without any "muh pc master race" even better
>>
>>27113249

You only "need" a high end PC for the games. It costs just as much to buy/build a bargain PC ($300 or less) and get a dedicated gaming console. That "bargain" PC could still run games released before 2010, as well as indy games, very well.
>>
A PC you absolute nigger
>>
You should probably buy a computer.

There been a trend recently which I like to call "multifunctionalism"

Basically, everything is becoming a Swiss Army knife for convenience.

Our phones over the past decade basically aren't phones now, they're awesome little Swiss army knife - entertainment devices. Think about it. Our phones have Internet, GPS, cameras, speakers, fingerprinting machines, games, music, etc.

This isn't just in phones either. Cars can call people, play music, movies, be a navigator, warm your butt, drive for you, etc.

Basically, what I'm saying is, is that specialized tools that only serve one purpose are dying out. You can see that the console industry is trying to adapt to this by adding chat, Internet, movies, music, etc, but they're not adapting fast enough or in the right way. It seems as they keep adding new features, the consoles start to look and behave like a PC. Now, this is good from a consumer's perspective, but not from a marketing perspective. This is because as they become more similar to PCs, there is less way they are distinguished, and eventually people will question why they aren't just buying a PC instead of getting an overpriced, locked-down version. Consoles are becoming Macs.

In short, get a PC because the next gen of consoles will just be underpowered, overpriced PCs trying to masquerade themselves as better or different than PCs so people won't just get a PC instead.

PS4, that is if you have a PC already. I've been a "le pc gamer" since 2002 and played nothing but PC games since 2015. Ranging from BFBC2, CS1.6, CSS/CSGO, BF2, Cod2/4/5, etc..

These these games coming out on PC are nothing more but pathetic buggy console ports, FPS games for instance are also always riddled with cheaters on day one (Speed hacks, aimbot, wall-hacks etc..).

Buying a PS4 soon.

Get a laptop if you don't have one (a Chromebook would work fine) and have a PS4 for gaming. Get the best of both.
