The class I'd choose to be would depend on the rules of the RPG life I'm getting.
If I'm ending up in a fantasy world where game mechanics don't apply, then I'd probably choose to be an Archmage or something along those lines. As much as I like skill, steel, physical prowess, and wits, I'd have to go with a role that has a lot of easy access to magic so as to not lock myself out of high tier power level abilities like reality warping, subatomic class telekinesis, cosmic manipulation, time and space manipulation, etc. that are magical in nature. A sword and board fighter will never ever be able to slay literal gods that weave the fabric of reality or entities such as the Great Old Ones.
However, I do REALLY like idea of someone that's an average schmo at first defeating "undefeatable" enemies with just a sword in hand and their intellect. The idea of the aforementioned average schmo literally shattering his limits like say, Saitama, and turning into an entity that can beat the shit out of God through pure effort and willpower is pretty enticing too.
But if the RPG world I'm ending up in is literally balanced like a game, then I'd choose to be a jack (and possibly a master) of all trades, like an Adventurer.

I'm sure as hell not a pet class, and I lack the dedication to be any of [Warrior, Rogue, Priest]. So that leaves Druid, Paladin, Mage, and Shaman; I lack the overt flexibility of Druid and I'm not personally resilient enough to be a Paladin. So it really comes down to - metaphorically, besides DPS, do I have the ability to off-heal? Or do I have the ability to conjure water for people? And I think these days I've gotten better at the former and worse at the latter.
