And you expect these same people to be spontaneously verbose and social without any conversational precedent?

Do you have the ability to "talk" about nothing on a whim?
Despite what cameradie we may have just by being here as frequenters of this board, there isn't too much palling around to be had as if it were seinfeld.

You guys often get hostile when the banality of the exchange sets in.
I'm sure a lot would love to talk with a reason to. But most can't be fucked to because the amount of effort it needs to carry a forced disharmonious conversation is not worth the effort and reward it may bring.

There's actually an art to conversation that most people don't really bother thinking abuot.

I know conversations with normies are all bullshit if they'll even talk to you cause they have literally nothing interesting to say. A real conversation is something that can be pretty interesting if you put work into it.

Talking with other anons might not help you get better at talking to normies, but fuck em, might as well have interesting discussions with people who actually kinda want to think about things a bit different.

And hostility can be a healthy part of a conversation, as long as people remember that they are only arguing about an idea, and they understnad it isn't that important.

The effort can be worth it if you're willing to try.

If any of you guys want to try talking seriously, come over to lainch*n with us, it's where I spend most of my time and people there actually try to put thought into stuff. I'm not saying they don't here, but there's still too much /b/ and /rddit/ here
>>
>>27094518
yeah dude, I have the ability to "talk about nothing on a whim." I enjoy conversing with people and being exposed to people I wouldn't normally meet. For example, you have a heightened vocabulary. Most people with an expanded lexicon learn this from books. If I was conversing with you, I would ask you about your favorite authors, what themes do you find interesting in literature. See? that's me attempting to ask you about yourself and your possible interests. If you aren't interested in that area, I could ask you want you are interested in. My reason for wanting to talk is because I enjoy interacting with people. I don't assume we have any camaraderie, and I most certainly won't become hostile when "the banality of exchanges sets in." If you are displeased with the conversation, you can just leave. I was trying to articulate that there is no pressure on any of us to force a disingenuous conversation. I will talk to anyone about anything, and if they are shy, I will try to include them
>>
>>27094608
Yeah but I think that's why is thread has started. We're all anonymous and don't have anything vested in talking to each other. There's no reason to be inhibited because we are, and probably will remain, complete strangers.

I like sand.
And deserts.

Odd things, and posting here. Its in my opinion I am not a very interesting person, I like to find interesting things. Like >>27094608 said, hell i'd love to talk to you guys but there's this barrier of justification that I seem to create myself that bars me from topics I don't like discussing unless asked about.

I wonder if this pressure that I feel to avoid banality and the urge to "escape" a conversation is born from some amicable overtone I created for conversation.

To avoid conversation would be to avoid the chance for it to go awry, in favor of a conversation less likely to.
But I guess that's a defeatist way of looking at it.

It's like when talking to people you by some chance meet or converse with outside of 4chan or this board in particular you may just clam up because of the change of setting.

To me it's because the barrier has either grown or been stripped away too suddenly.

It's like you're afraid of realizing the person is a complete pain in the ass, psycho in none of the good ways.
Or maybe you're more afraid of coming off as that instead of meeting it.
>>27094878
This is the barrier.

>and if they are shy, I will try to include them
Here's a dark thought.
Not dark, maybe just negative.

I'm going to start throwing concepts out here, excuse them, and their form. It's a stream of consciousness kind of post because i'm still thinking about it as I write it. Feel free to slap around my argument a little.

This failsafe you have, for the ones "that are shy".
It sounds like a bad idea.
To include them, and target them based on their inaction. for lack of better phrasing.

In this way, it reminds me of that newton formula, if i've got the right guy.

every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
If there is a conversation in place, there will be hierarchy placed almost immediately, if not shortly after it's initiation.

There will already be people present in this chat that will "shine" and become the local metonym we use for "chads" here, even if they aren't actually fitting of the label.

Simply because they have such overt pull over the conversation it seems like they are contributing inequality to the discussion and it would seem to the observer that they are taking control of the hierarchy of exchange.

Now.
I am not saying I would be the person to feel bitter about this observation, but I would be lying if I said I could stop myself from making the observation and finding who controls the conversation.

It sets a tone, and with this tone set, there will be participants who fall short, and slink back into where they feel comfortable because they can't keep up.
They are the equal opposite reaction.
I believe this is a reecuring theme in group discussions among outcasts. There will always be outcasts among outcasts.

To target them as such would only worsen their issue.
Maybe this is a game not meant to be won.
Maybe i'm a pessimist too far gone.

I really do wish none of us were outcasts.
But I don't wish we were normalfags.

I just wish we could get along and be okay.

>>27094977
>To avoid conversation would be to avoid the chance for it to go awry, in favor of a conversation less likely to.
Ok. What I'm saying is that we are complete strangers, interacting in a nonphysical medium. If the conversation goes awry, so what? I don't see why a potentially awkward situation with a bunch of people you'll never meet again has any impact. Because our conversation has no permanency, you shouldn't feel obliged to create any false "amicable overtone." I don't understand your point of view in regards to what you feel is a "barrier." Perhaps you could explain that? Or if you aren't interested in talking about that, I can converse with you about sands, deserts, sub-saharan Africa, desert regions of Argentina, or Anton Sighur or anything you want to mention. I'm literally here would OP wanted someone to talk to and I also want someone to talk to.
>>
>>27095189
Well then I have to ask, why do you want to keep caring? You come to this board consistently and there are a lot of people with self worth issues here. You should know that caring for those people doesn't do them any good, because they won't accept it no matter what. I'm not gonna act like it's the easiest thing in the world to stop caring about anyone, but at someone who frequents /r9k/ you really should know better and be able to convince yourself of better.
>>
>>27095232
This is the first time I've ever been on /r9k/.
>>
>>27095186
Getting pretty dramatic there, m8.

A hierarchy is going to form in any group. It'll always happen. One-on-one chats are the only place you get to talk on an equal level.
Some people just take naturally to it. Some people have presence. Some people are just invisible no matter how hard they try.
>>
>>27095252
Oh, well I guess that changes things. Are you the guy from /pol/?

>>
>>27095186
Yeah I'm slightly drunk actually, and my posts are stream of consciousness as well. I'm enjoying this dialogue by the way, this is fun! Ok, so first: Newton's Laws are laws of physics. I, and probably you too, learned some Newtonian physics in high school. Newton's Laws are accurate in describing some physical observations, but not all of them. That's why we have quantum and relativistic physics. I have to run to the store real quick but when I come back I want to address the other parts of your post.
>>
>>27095218
>I don't see why a potentially awkward situation with a bunch of people you'll never meet again has any impact
It shouldn't.
But sometimes it does.
A conversation that causes that much non-real cringe can make even the most real niggas feel like bitch niggas. The permanency is in our minds like a scar.

We claim to be so much more desensitized to things than we believe "the unwashed masses" and normalfags are.
But yet faux pas, in internet conversations can make a person uncomfortable for days at the very least.

We are strange folk here, there's no denying that.

Sometimes I wish I were an actual real robot.
Maybe because I don't feel like I fit what is considered a "robot" here anymore with this paradigm shift in definition.

If it's any consolation, those tiny objects are the primary focus of the field of particle physics. They're interesting little guys, if you put the effort in to study them.
>>
>>27095776
Yeah that's what I was going to elaborate on. Newtonian physics are good for cardboard boxes sliding down inclines and two cars colliding and sticking together. But when Newtonian mechanics are applies to positions of electrons and stuff, they aren't necessarily accurate

Arguably it's mostly about personality type. There are alot of INTx people here
with non-PC opinions and so on, "thinkers" that doesn't get triggered by harsh truths yet are socially sensitive. Most normal people are the opposite, interpersonally insensitive (though they love to think otherwise) and can function well in social contexts yet piss themselves with emotion when someone mentions a non-mainstream opinion. Fucking extroverts and sensors (also known as "normalfags") goddamn.

well I didn't mean to be exclusionary or anything. I just hating typing and would rather physically speak to people. It's more spontaneous. When I type I have to transfer my emotional feelings into text. When I'm talking I don't have to exude any additional effort other than talking. It's a personal problem. My social anxiety makes me reticent to type out anything. Also, I'm not a very good writer so my mind races ahead while i'm trying to articulate my thoughts in a hopefully, semi understandable manner.
