Towel drying, using a blow dryer, iron, etc, all damage your hair.
I haven't gotten a haircut in a year and a half yet my hair isn't damaged, not a single split end since the only thing I do to it is shampoo and condition, no towel or blow drying. I see lots of girls with split ends and dry hair despite getting their haircut a month or two ago.
