I'm just not a fan of metal. Like early metallica is bearable because there are actual vocals and singing rather than someone sounding like a rusty truck driving down a gravel road. Also newer metal just sounds bad because its just simple cord progressions played fast and somone doing blast beats on a double peddle and thats the entire song. Rather than playing something that sounds new they just go for "fast as possible". Don't even get me started on the whole style and apparel, its probably the worst part.

All I listen to is Jazz, Metal and classical, mostly instrumental or orchestrated for the rest of my 3 TB library with some video game, movie and tv soundtracks on the side. I will admit much metal is juvenile and angsty but that also goes for many genres and metal has much more complex structure as well as technical performers than most genres. Metal is objectively one of the top genres when you know how to look and I know this because I cannot stand simple, repetitive compositions across any genre.

I like early Bathory stuff a lot and a few Burzum albums. A lot of black metal feels more like attitude than music, but that happens with a lot of niche genres like that. Some of the riffs on Bathory's first two albums are really sick, and they fuck around with time a lot on that album Blood Fire Death.
