First of all, you're using Lenin's definition of "socialism" vs. "communism"; Marx and his peers used the terms interchangeably. Secondly, you are refering to Marxism-Leninism, the IDEOLOGY - mere "marxism" is just an umbrella term for social scientific theories. One can for example be a marxist and a libertarian communist, i.e. one subscribes to some variety of marxian social scientific theory that describes capitalism, but ideologically one prefers a libertarian path to communism.
