Have any of you dropped out of high school? What has life been like since?
>>

You will just have to go back like i did.

Dont do it.

>Have any of you dropped out of high school?
Yes.
>What has life been like since?
Bad.

It was bad before, too.
>>
>>27020692

You have to be a complete and utter retard to drop out of high school and not get a GED
>>
dropped out at 16, got a GED, worked a couple of jobs, now I'm 24 and going to college

don't have any friends though
>>
Yes, to raise kids. It's been pretty alright since.
>>
>>27020999

>having kids in highschool

if you don't like your school just transfer to an easy one
it's a nice way to reduce your parents dissapointment and also helps you get a job
>>
I was one course away from getting everything i needed diploma and all i could literally taste victory it was so goddamn close
then along came dildoface
literally the cunts name rejected every article of work i did no matter how perfect it was rejected it some old feminist cunt too
eventually i got ejected from the system and it's fucked my entire life up
>>
Officially dropped at 16 but stopped going much earlier. My life has always been complete and utter shit and it didn't get any worse after I dropped out. Now I'm just waiting for my parents to kick me out so I can off myself.
>>
>>27021198
I'm the father so probably not. I got unlucky with a one night stand with my dad's boss.
>>
I just stopped going in to school when I was 16. theres a bunch of reasons why I dropped out and don't feel like going into specifics. never got my ged either. I've forgotten most of that shit anyway, so I'd need to do a lot of reviewing to pass it. I was always a C student and I most likely wouldn't have been able to hack it in college.

29 years old now and still living at home with my parents, neet, the only way I make money is by playing guitar in a couple cover bands in bars around my city. I don't make that much, $70-150 per gig. I was a heroin addict for most of 20s, basically homeless at some points and crashed on other addicts couches.

so yea, I should have just killed myself 10 years ago because it's all been a waste of time and it wasn't worth it.
>>
>>27021515
Weird, you're literally me.
>>
dropped out at 18, been working shitty wageslave jobs since
>>
>>27021562
are you good at playing guitar?
I feel like literaly 1 of 2 people plays guitar
I've been playing for about a year and I'm not sure if it's worth the effort since there's so many guitarists already
>>
>>27021640
I'm alright, have been playing since I was 10. im like an upper level intermediate player I guess. I'll never be guthrie govan or Django reinhardt though.

playing guitar seems to he the only thing I can do with any level of proficiency
>>
Sort of, my mom just never enrolled me for my senior year, turned 18 the following summer, got my GED right away and I just lie and say I finished highschool and it hasn't hindered me getting a job or anything
>>
>>27021803

Employers wouldn't care if you said you had a GED
>>
>>27021730
any tips for a relative beginner? also how much did you practice?
I just want to get good enough to improvise and make my own music easily, but I don't know if I have to learn scales or if learning random songs can help me
>>
>>27021940

Drummer here

When I was taking lessons, my teacher taught me the basic rudiments (LRLRLLRR etc) and that didn't do it for me so I took lessons from a guy at the University in my town and he taught me how to play songs and basic rock grooves and that's what I was most interested in and it helped me more than the traditional teacher.
>>
>>27021640
>so many guitarists already

IMO, the opposite is true. I know multiple bassists and drummers, but no real good guitarists. Guitar is really a normie instrument; it's what 15-year-old stoners think music is because they listen to shitty metalcore.
>>
>>27021940
yes you need to learn scales, you also need to learn basic music theory. don't be one of those shit heads who refuse to learn this stuff. get the fundamentals down.

justinguitar covers pretty much every important topic from beginner stages to low level intermediate stuff.

other than that, learn how to setup your guitar and how to clean it to keep it playing well. you don't want to rely on a guitar tech for simple easy to fix problems.

thanks guys, this is very motivating, you are more helpful than /mu/
>>
>>27022140
go the /gg/ guitar thread there, it's mostly gear discussion but they will help you if you have really any guitar related question. I post there whenever they need help with some technique or theory question. I'm not much of a gear head though.
>>
>>27022140
My biggest word of advice is to focus on the creative side as well as technical. Kevin Shields was not a good guitarist (even he says so), but MBV was one of the greatest bands of the 90's. There's plenty of plenty that can play guitar, but much fewer musicians.
>>
i dropped out when i was 17 and got a GED immediately
dropped out of college too
i had one shitty labor job and i just live with my parents
i never had anything i wanted to live for, thinking of actually becoming a tranny porn star
>>
i got tired of high school at 15. i was introverted as fuck, i hated everyone and all the classes and i thought all the rules were nazi rules, like getting written up because you were 1 minute late (only 5 min between each class) or not being able to go outside, and i never felt that pride bullshit for your school. i started skipping, like the bus would drop off us and i'd walk to mcdonalds or smoke weed or shoplift with my older friends. single mom didnt care, she was too stressed. eventually i skipped everyday and stopped showing up at all. i was a straight A student and when i stopped showing up i was all Fs. i was basically free doing my own shit not going to school until i was 18, then i took the GED test and aced it, easy as fuck. applied to community college and transfered to my local state univeristy. now im currently a senior in college, majoring in phsyics. i still zone out in all my classes, loner, smoke pot, but making good marks.
>>
>>27022218
I agree with this
I always felt that learning scales would make my playing more techical and less creative so I tried learning it by ear and feeling alone, but I guess learning them is helpful either way
I know hendrix didn't learn any music theory and his playing was amazingly creative, but he was probably just really talented
>>
>>27022346
hendrix had his rhythm playing down and he knew his chords. that's where he truly shined, just go listen to his version of killing floor, no one was playing rhythm guitar like that before him.

his solos are mostly based around pentatonics though.

just believe me, get your understanding of scales down, it makes things easier in the long run. don't take this the wrong way, but you're probably not as creative as hendrix was.
>>
>>27020692
I dropped out. Don't do it.
Job market sucks, either you're not qualified, or over qualified. A lot of places if they have a job opening it's because either nobody knows about it, or they simply don't want to hire anyone. There is no such thing as a job so shitty no one will do it, it's just a matter of how long or desperate they are that they will keep doing it if it pays.
Also it really didn't hit me till I got out of school how fucking pointless everything is because you're so fucked when it comes to money you can't find any reason to keep living aside from your situation not being quite bad enough to kill yourself it usually takes a really really shitty situation for that.
>>
>>27022498
I'l start learning scales as soon as I replace my string, right now I cant really do much with the lower E missing. As for the creative thing you're probably right, but you never know
