It's a little bit of both. I didn't notice the "80s" as it was going on, since it was my first full decade on earth. I just thought all decades would be like that. Then the 90s happened and it made me appreciate the 80s more. Now I appreciate the 90s. It's 6 years into the 2010s and I can't really see any difference from the 2000s. I kind of miss Gamecube and old Youtube, but other than that, it's shit now, shit then. Doesn't help that my adult life sucks balls in every conceivable facet.

Half of Spongebob seasons 1, along with 2 and 3 in their entirety, aired during this time (of course as did the subsequent seasons).
Malcolm in the middle aired in the 2000s.
Seasons 7+8 of KOTH (best seasons besides maybe 4) aired during this time.
The under rated Dexter book series started during this time.
Boomtown aired during this time.
There was a great local music scene into area.
Michael Clayton came out in 2008.
I'm sure there are a bunch more but these are off the top of my head.
Also, 4chan started in the 2000s.

up until 2008 it had some nice parts. comfy internet communities, games and music. also cars still looked decent. then one by one each become worse. mainly the financial crisis and the explosion of the internet and smartphones is what ruined it.

OK here's my list of stuff to miss about the 90s:
- Early 2000s iPod culture. There was a lot of buzz around those devices.
- Launch of gmail. Remember when you needed an invite to join gmail? That was kind of a cool time.
- The last years of the pre-Facebook internet. The early-mid 2000s were the swan song of the internet as a largely 'anonymous' phenomenon based on self-generated communities, as opposed to a replica of real life that happens to take place over online servers.
