to add on that, the military (or at least the infantry) is a very different social environment than the civilian world. its mainly competency based. as in, in the normal world you can be a complete fuckhead but be funny/"likeable" and youll do alright socially. in the mil everyone hates those dudes, i dont mean the higher ups, i mean full social ostracizing.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing OP. The military will keep me busy, keep me from dwelling and thinking about how much shit hurts, how unfair it all is. I don't really have a future, and I don't really care to have a future, so it's not a big deal really.
It's cruel really. Of my mother's two sons, I was already pretty tired of living and wouldn't have minded dying. Conversely, my brother was always happy, and he was one of the very few things I actually cared about. It should have been me.
