Pic related. I used to like Wild Turkey a lot, but after branching out into other bourbons, I realized how savory and not-sweet it is. I understand it's popular and of very high quality but it's just not for me. I like the wheated bourbons the best so clearly Wild Turkey doesn't appeal to me as a consumer.

To be fair, there's no real difference between good vodka and cheap vodka if you're mixing it with something anyway.
And if you're drinking it neat, $40 is the absolute most you have to spend on it, because it's not trying to have flavor or complexity unlike whiskey/gin/absinthe/cognac/etc.

I've been on a serious gin bender lately, but on a whim decided on bourbon tonight. I got that Fighting cock going on now. If I want to get absolutely fucked I drink Mellow Corn, bottled in bond, but only $8 a fifth and no discernable taste or heat of alcohol. It's kind of sweet and fruity. Corn whiskey kicks ass, both in terms of being good and getting you drunk as a skunk.
Citadelle gin is overpriced as fuck. It's $29/fifth, but Bombay sapphire is $32 a handle and might be imperceptibly better. Gin is weird like that. Seagrams is $14/fifth and Burnett's is $8, but burnetts is less sweet, much more astringent, has more heat, and the same amount of juniper. I also like the green embossed bottle more than the shitty clear basketweave thing seagrams has going on.
