I'm going to assume you're referring to the manga ending where she become his gf. The anime is more based on the original source (the novel) than the manga is. This is why the manga is usually regarded as the most shitty version of the three.

I liked it. The story's a bit all over the place and the narration's absurdly fast (I'm a reasonably fast reader, but I still found myself having to pause it on occasion to keep up), but it's told in an interesting way, and that was enough to keep me watching the rest of the series.

Depends what you're after. If it's something with the feels of NHK, Tatami Galaxy probably won't do it for you. It's been a few years, but from what I remember Tatami is more mind-bending than feely, exploring how different possible choices play out (In a sometimes absurd fashion).
Watamote has similar themes of being a social outcast and borderline hikki, but it's more of a school comedy that has some sometimes awkward, sometimes sad moments.
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU or OreGaIru is billed as a school comedy about social outcasts but has a fairly lonely theme running through it, especially as the series goes on.
