/r9k/, I realized that the reason so many of us are so awkward and socially incapable is because we have a lack of pop culture knowledge. Normies only seem to be capable of talking about "THE BACHELOR ;d", or a fucking gay sport, a vapid song with lyrics at a 3rd grade reading level (LOL WATCH ME WHIP AND NAY NAY), or some fucking gay capeshit movie.

If I could talk about this fucking gay shit, I swear to god I would have 18 friends and a chance for a lady. But when it comes up in conversation, people can instantly tell I'm a fucking loser and I don't follow trends. How do we learn about "pop culture"? How do I sit down and learn about fucking football. This shit is fucking gay and boring, how do I forcefeed myself this garbage? Is it even worth it in the end, or should I continue living in my own friendless world of Dorf Fort, private WoW servers, books, Bach, and Alfred Hitchcock movies?

>Bach

Why do spergs glorify baroque music so much? Is their version of hipsterdom?

You fucks realize 1750-1950 saw massive improvements on style and range of expression, right?
>>
>>26868190
Don't I have a right to be for not being interested in capeshit and Bernie Sanders the fucking socialist? Don't I have a right to feel superior for not being infatuated with Justin Bieber's latest hit, "Love Yourself", a vapid pop song about nothing that has lyrics a fucking 7 year old can understand without trouble? Face it fag, normies love shit that appeals to the lowest common denominator. Anyone who isn't interested in typical normie shit should be proud they aren't a fucking faggot as average IQ plebeian.
>>
>>26868278
Let me just list some things that make me sound more refined for listening

f-fucking normies for not liking Albert Einstein
>>
>>26868278
it would have been too obvious that OP was an uncultured retard talking about shit he doesn't actually know about if he said mozart or beethoven. and he probably doesn't anybody else besides those two and bach so it was a process of elimination.

Since you seem somewhat knowledgeable about orchestral music what do you think about Dvorak?
>>
>>26868323
>I'm free to act like a sad bitch, therefore I will

That's time better spent enjoying yourself. Go listen to Bach.
>>
>>26868163

What are you trying to say here?

Remember, it helps to use correct propositions and a logical sequence of thoughts and to not just spew diarrhea onto your keyboard. Lemme know if you're having problems
>>
>>26868163
You need to go read Theodore Adorno. His works on culture industry would be pretty interesting to you, written a while ago but eerily relevant today, perhaps even moreso.
>>
>>26868424
Why do spergs have this fantasy of being refined and intelligent, by virtue of hating pop music? It takes more than disliking certain things.

>>26868163
You're not refined, you're bitter. Or you're pretending to be for a response.

Dvorak is awesome man, late 19th century stuff is some my favorite. It's the apex of orchestral/classical/whatever you wanna call it music. Call me pleb bug I could never get into the postmodern stuff

Check out other late romantics like Bruckner, Sibelius, Scriabin, Grieg, Rachmaninoff, etc if you like Dvorak
>>
>>26868577
Oh I see, you were mocking OP. Right on man. Guess that makes me kind of a tard
>>
>>26868424
Not him but Dvorak has a nigh unparalleled gift for melody, and the largo of the new world symphony is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard

Gee, i sure want to be enlightened and smart like the guys in r9k am i right?

>b-b-b-but muh bluepill
>b-but ignorant normies
I'd rather not swallow any pill and label myself. But if I had to choose? I'd choose not to be miserable.

fucking based, I hope his sister will always be nice to him after that
>>

Maybe, but I wouldn't consider it to be the same type of beautiful.

There's a difference between not being caught up in pop culture and not having a personality, spergo.

I wish the hunter I used to raid with was that perceptive. then again with the amount of damage he did I was prepared to forgive having to fight him on Omen. but geez you'd think it'd be reflex to hit the "drop aggro" button

How the fuck do I "have a personality"? Fucking fag. Tell me about your own great ass personality then.
>>
>>26868771
everybody has a personality. When normies say "you have to have a personality", they mean "you have to have the correct personality"
>>

I don't listen to old music much, but I have a soft spot for the guy.
>>

sure
>>
>>26868163
Your elitism aside, I agree.

I can't into pop culture and even when I try it feels like a miserable chore I am having no fun with at all. However this seems like the only way to get into any sizeable social circle as people who share my interests are off on the onternet like me.

If there is one thing that outright pisses me off about this situation though, it is "the sports fan". That one faggot who can't hold a conversation if they other person/people are not into that sport. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact that this guy ostracizes those who don't share such a mainstream interest. God help us if this is a group situation and he tries to rally the rest onto his side. Fuck that guy. Not the sports, not the general fans, but that guy in particular. Already barely interested in the topic, but your attitude doesn't make me want bother any more with it.
>>
I don't understand why so many people on this board hate sports. Watching and following sports is about as robot as it gets. Especially being able to sperg over statistics. Playing sports is fairly normie, but following is for both
>>
>>26868892
Esports exists so spergs can feel okay with following statistics and team layouts and leagues without feeling too "brutish and uncultured"
>>
>>26868323
Hey! Bernie will get you neet bux so why bash on him?
>>
>>26868892

Sports are usually something you have to get into as a kid, either by playing them or watching them with your dad. Disliking sports is also a way for robots to feel superior to normies since disliking anything popular obviously means one has better tastes than the masses.
>>
>>26868892
You can be a robot fan over sports, but sports are definitely far, FAR from being a robot hobby.
>>
>>26868163
Ahh I read in your autistic rant was WHAAAAAAAA PEOPLE DONT WANNA TALK ABOUT TENDIES AND POO POO PEEE PEEEEE REEEEEEEEEEEEE

get a better personality autismo
>>
>>26868991
I follow eSports stuff (FGC) pretty extensively, the thing I don't understand about people acting the same way with real sports is that I can go online or go to a tourney and actually play a pro. He'll beat my ass, or I might win a round and he'll give me a pointer or two.

Sports fans are usually faggy 30-somethings that can't even throw a football or do an off-hand layup, claiming loyalty to a team that represents nothing except a city/state and a color scheme.
>>
>>26868424
Mozart and Beethoven are beasts though
>>
>>26869007
>Muh no true Scotsman fallacy
Are you that simple minded to actually believe this?
I hate sports too but come on, people are shaped by unique experiences and like a myriad of things for a myriad of reasons.
>>
>>26869518
nO if you like anything on my blacklist you are a scum
>>
>>26869518
.... What the hell? I don't think you understood my post at all.

I don't hate sports either, but I'm pead robots astray by saying that the majority of general sports fanbase are all autistic /sp/ memesters. Definitely not a suitable evironment for robots to grow and prosper, so it is no wonder why you don't get many robots into it.
>>
>>26868588
Thanks for the recommendations.

I'm a pleb when it comes to classical music myself. There's so much to it that its daunting to break into so I just kind of stumble haphazardly through artists. Chopin's noctures are what I really dig.

Oh shit, Pop culture stands for Popular culture.
