I'm really into horror movies. Mostly Jap stuff, like the Grudge. I also like the cheesier ones like Elm Street and Scream. People say it's obscure since for the most part I collect foreign movies.
>>
I'm really into retro video games. Right now I'm actually trying to make my own video game (and if possible port it to the SNES), but I'm having trouble creating a story for it.
>>
>>26787913
Same as this guy, I enjoy creating video games, currently through creating my second platformer.
>>
>>26787913
To be honest, I've never cared about story. If the gameplay is fun, it usually goes well. I hope it works out man! What kind of older games do you like? Not to sound like an autist, but I really enjoyed the old Genesis Sonic games. I still have the cartiridge around somewhere for the first one.
>>
I like programming. Not a complete expert at it, but I enjoy it.

I really like WW2 history, and recently have been writing a German enigma machine simulator.
>>
>>26787939
Anon, do you have an oc?

Ayy, I love world war II stuff.

I'm always hesitent to post in hobby threads because I always answer, "I'm into books, movies, and music," and it just makes me sound boring. I don't even have any specific tastes for any of those. It's just if it's good I like it (I'm not trying to say my taste is objective, it's just that I don't have a personal attatchment to a particular genre or anything).

I don't really have any creative hobbies other than "writing," but that's mostly just like a personal diary of thoughts and insights and nothing special.
>>
>>26787975
I tried to get into it, took a class. I didn't enjoy it much, but I still enjoy tinkering in linux a lot. Nothing too complex, though

>>26787980
I just put it because of the fact I like horror movies kek, 2spooky

>>26787993
That's cool, you're a pretty balanced person then. Doesn't sound boring, I'd like to think it's just general likeable and agreeable on stuff.

I create comics, but have been suffering a lot lately about from starting new projects and just staring page. I know that you need to just do it, but i have been so scared of it lately.
>>
>>26788013
Googled, you mean like, original characters? I don't do anything with Sonic except play some older games, and that's just because I like the gameplay mate.

>>26788024
Any chance you can post any of your work?
>>
>>26788024
Writers block can be a bitch, id just stay away from it until you have a sudden spark of inspiration and then just go nonstop work on it.
>>
>>26788037
I'm an author/journalist and just got over a block. Writing a book about a serial killer who hates women due to past experiences and shit, is generally liked and best friends with the detective trying to find him. It's meant to make the killer likeable and the reader want to root for him. Sound okay to you?
>>
>>26787939
Story is pretty important considering I'm making a standard RPG. It started earlier as an action RPG, but I couldn't find anyone to do art for me. Now I'm using a really old version of RPG Maker because it has pre-made graphics. As for my favorite games, here they are for consoles that I own:

NES: Super Mario Bros 3

SNES: Tough, considering how stacked the library is. Probably Super Metroid.

N64: Majora's Mask, slightly beating out Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64.

GCN: Maybe Wind Waker, though I mostly play Double Dash.

Anime I guess. I also quite enjoy film but I only really have a very shallow knowledge of it (I've only seen like ~10 silent films and most of the stuff I enjoy is by famously popular directors like Louis Malle and Tarkovsky.) I really need to convert some of my "watching dumb haremshit" time into "watching movies" time.

I know a little about quite a lot of things, which is due to my tendency to drop hobbies very quickly.
>>
>>26788411
I have about a million hobbies at once, some fade and others become top priority at random, I know how you feel. I went through an anime phase during my teenhood, now the only Jap stuff i really enjoy are a few live action movies and the Ultraman series
>>
>>26788358
If you go check my Tumblr, you see that i'm actually a lineart-nazi most of the time. Sometimes it's just fun to doodle.
>>
>>26788456
I did, your art is almost..bipolar. In a good way, I mean. Your styles are really diverse, like you can draw a completely different way depending on the project. It's quite cool, actually.

I had a mate I used to watch random horror films from blockbuster video with.

I think he got sick of it after a while but I enjoyed keeping up the tradition in spite of his reservations.

He AN Heroed a decade ago. Whenever I watch cheesy horror films I think of him.

That's incredibly sad...I only have one friend who's into horror and when I find something crappy I always call him up and buy a shitload of snacks. We're probably going to watch the ring tonight, since I just got it. Thanks for making me feel, anon
>>
>>26788506

The first Japanese Ring is more consistent but their are some scenes in the Ring 2 which make my blood run cold.
>>

I repair old lamps (mostly a specific lamp that was used in my city). Buy it from the goverment when they replace it ~$50-70 and work on it for some hours and make it nice. Spend 20-40$ on material depending on order and i sell it for $160-220. Average profit is ~$110 pr lamp. Just gotta up my selling game right now i only sell 2-3 a week.

Hope to one day live off it.

>>

Thanks, maybe i'm just still looking for my style. Most people i know seems to have it already, i'm kinda like always looking.

Any write fags here got any tips?

I was a fantastic stream of consciousness and purple prose writer in high school.

Insanely creative.

Since then I've had mild cognitive impairment and on and off various drugs.

My expression is pretty flat and unoriginal these days, I think I need to practice no matter how hard the writers block, like physio for an atrophied muscle but if I force myself to do given exercises it is more likely to stick to compared to just "just write lol" .
>>
>>26788623
But i really have an appreciation for the American Grudge movies. I loved the fact they didn't change any of the actual onryo designs and kept the plot pretty much.
>>
>>26788662
I know what you mean. I had it, too. I'm >>26788057 by the way. I pretty much just went looking into philosophy. Trying to figure out what was going on in the world opened my mind a lot better. Before that I was basically labotomized.
>>
>>26788642
>Ju-on (the made for tv ones before the movies)

This so much.

I picked them up on dvd in Europe, superior to the movies, wouldn't have known it existed without running into the dvd by chance.

Called Ju-On: The Curse
>>
>>26788620
>That's incredibly obscure but kinda interesting. Seems like the type of thing that you can get paid for pretty easy, yeah.

Ye its easy when you live in a city. High wages and the lamp is pretty trendy right now. Might branch into like 5 different items and do that. Then i could probably do it for a living. Right now i could probably live off the 1k a month and only work ~30 hours a month but i still want some stability from my work.

A hobby where you can sell the items you make is pretty nice
>>
>>26788757
I love how they actually follow the original mythology behind onryo right down to design. Scary as hell, too.
>>
I collect flags

They're usually cheap ones off the internet (although one day I'd like to travel a bit and replace some) but having them as decorations and learning about them is always fun
>>
>>26787729
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE recommend good horror movies for me to watch, NOTHING is appealing and everything normies recommend or promote is disappointing for me. The Babadook sucked, Mama sucked, I just don't know where to turn.
>>
>>26788809
Horror movies are pretty broad and depending on your attitude towards them you could like or hate basically anything recommended

What do you like in a horror movie?
>>
>>26788809
The Grudge is great. Only horror movie that actually kept me up. That includes the original Ju-On movies (the grudge was based off these movies) and made for tv miniseries. These are easy to find online.

The ring's jap version ringu is quite good. I've heard the american one is good too. It's based off a book which is really interesting. One missed call (2003 jap version, NOT THE AMERICAN ONE) is very cool. It is okay if you like them cheesy but a tad creepy.

Japan is really good at horror, look into horror movies out of there.
>>
>>26788665
Looking forward to Sadako vs Kayako? Quite intrigued how these two will even battle since they're not known for combat. Hopefully, it'll be more about using the curses against one another, which might mean of the gouls is the "good guy" the way Jason was in Fred vs Jason
>>
>>26788862
Silence. Think "No Country for Old Men" when Anton Chigurh is right around the corner and you are just listening for something, anything to give you a clue but there is nothing and it makes your hair stand on end.
>>
>>26788878
Subbed or dubbed?
>>
>>26788809
Rosemary's Baby lacks jump scares but is filled with dread.

The ending of Kubrick's The Shinning is a bit meh but their are such well crafted stuff of nightmares within its worth it.

I have had dreams of those hallways and those two girls from the perspective of Danny.

Jacobs Ladder is pretty horrifying in part.

I haven't seen it since I was 12 but Event Horizon gave me serious nightmares.
>>
I like to read Wikipedia and use Google earth. Does this count?
>>
>>26788893
>dubbing in a horror movie
Unless you want to laugh your arse off, always subs
>>
>>26788880
I literally screamed at my friend over the phone out of excitement. I doubt it'll play in theaters subbed here, but I can get it online once it's out. I think the idea will be that since Sadako comes out of the tape while in the house she gets cursed, but Kayoko sees the film and in turn also is cursed

I don't know who could win, both curses are practically unbreakable.

>>26788893
it's hard to find them dubbed anyway, and it's usually not done very well. go for subbed

>>26788940
The shining bored me. I don't know why, I just didn't like it.
>>
>>26788893
I watched a Japanese Vampire Martial arts film once, half the cast were dubbed by Mexicans.
>>
>>26788940
Event Horizon is pretty shit. Even the director wasn't particularly happy with it, since it was early in his career and he was bossed around on what to do a lot.
>>
>>26788961
>The shining bored me.

I think it might be a personality thing and due to my past experiences, all the content with Danny having visions and riding around on his tricycle down the endless identical hallways with spooky things occurring was reminiscent of my childhood imaginings and nightmares.

In fact I believe I had seen a few scenes of it from the drive-in in the movie Twister when I was very young and that planted a seed.

This in particular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy7ztJ3NUMI

I find most horror with creepy children pretty great something uncanny about them which grown ghouls/ghosts cannot compete with.

Like The Others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaQvusrtsKA and Sixth Sense.

I like playing electric guitar. I learn with rocksmith 2014, it's a pretty decent way to learn songs. Planning on playing in a band one day.

I also like anything relating to vampires and vampire lore (such as vampire the masquerade bloodlines, shiki, dracula).

I used to draw manga but I got sick of it after a while.
>>
>>26789111
I watched the tricycle scene at 8 and it never bothered me, oddly enough. I don't see why it's so infamous.
>>
>>26789130
Hard to describe with words, but my skin is shivering after it.

I think the camera at his level creates a sensation of being a child and how large and intimidating the world is yet there is a great urge to go out and explore it, and a concrete sense of the real and imagined has not settled down yet.

The voices of the girls are just spooky plus it pans back and you can just make them out but can't really see their faces, like some freaky dream imagery, then it cuts to his stunned face.
>>
I like watching horror movies too OP, I tried writing some scripts, I haven't finished one and I don't think they are very good, but I will try to start working on it again today.
>>
>>26789198
Oh, man you're on a very different level than I am, man. I just watch horror movies for simple scares, hence my love for giant-eyed pale chicks jumping out of attics and snapping necks, kek.
