it's actually probably true. WHile the majority of people stand for overhead press, it DOES put a little more pressure on the back area. I would argue that this is a good thing if done safely, because it builds greater stabilization and thus increases the weight you can lift over your head.

2 years ago I decide to start gym training. After reading dumb shit how important is free weight training I decided to squat high bar. I was 100% sure that my form is correct. Bar was resting three reps on my neck instead.
2 years later still feels uncomfortable rattling in my neck when I move head to the left.
I am not going to make it. Its weird there are dumb people that without any preparation and with shitty training makes gains and I fucked up my neck with one gym training.

Been lifting upwards to 2 months, see great changes and overall confidence with body has gone up. Gym bro's are also fun to lift with. A few QT's at my gym, Chad Thundercock usually goes up and the conversation goes as follows.

I'm a NYRfag too and am making steady progress. Ate at maintenance (but very high protein) for all of January while lifting the heaviest weight possible.
In February I started doing cardio as well as lifting (5k on the rowing machine set to the hardest setting) and have dropped 12 lbs so far this month.
Loving it so far but I just wish /fit/ wasn't so full of dank memespouters so I could get some good advice without people making fun of me.
