It is when you are basically obsessed with someone. I'm 29 and have only had one really bad crush. It was over a girl who worked at the comic shop. I would go in for hours at a time doing nothing just to see her and talk to her a little (usually really poorly). I never saw her outside of there and am really embarrassed about it now and how obvious it must have been to her. I was also like 23 years old making it really pathetic.
She finally quit one day, I couldn't find her online or anything and never saw her again. I had imagined us getting married and all kinds of stupid shit all the time.

We just talked about comics, movies, and pop culture stuff mostly.
She was very pretty and had similar interests to me. I didn't know any other girls in real life who liked any of that stuff (comics, anime, etc). Also she was forced to be nice and talk to me since I was a customer...not that she'd have any reason to be mean to me, but it was an unrealistic situation compared to the real world.

Well, it's hard to get a crush if you're not around women all that often - it's more readily triggered by a girl smiling at you, laughing at your jokes, or whatever. There's probably pheromones involved too, ergo physical proximity is needed.
I asked about porn because I realized some time ago that I had simply suppressed my sexuality with the help of porn. Being a virgin at 23, I am incapable of imagining myself in a sexual situation with a woman I know - I'm even basically incapable of fantasizing about anything without a visual aid. So perhaps, if you wanted to experience a crush, you'd have to reduce your porn consumption and go back to the good old days of actually having to court a woman in order to obtain sexual gratification, or fantasizing about these women as the next best thing. Sexuality and romance are basically the same thing after all.
