To start a fire
Ideally, id set up somewhere off a beach. Tarp goes up for shelter in case of storms until I make a decent shelter. Id also plan to keep a fire going 24/7, to conserve matches.
My days would pretty much be spent finding firewood and slowly upgrading my shelter. Id also test to see what local flora I could eat, if there are any coconut trees which would be a godsend, and any native animals that I could hunt.
Make a pot out of hardened clay. Fire is the hardest thing to make and maintain so fucking build that first. You don't need any tools just a knife or a saw that is up to preference. A saw can be reverse blade sharpened too over time using a rock so again, preference.
A tarp is suitable to help a shelter. Is it a warm island? If so then fuck the tent just get a tarp and build a shelter. Its also a skill you'll need.
Fishing rod is nice and all but do you have any hooks? bait? What happens when you lose your hook? Sorry, it works for a little while but not forever.
First aid kit might be nice i'd probably take that.

Late reply, but I assume that wild life and the supplies you can take are limited. Let's say that you're stuck on this island for longer than a year until SAR comes.
I would have to choose: knife, hand saw, matches and the tarp.
Knife will be your most useful survival tool , the hand saw is to cut larger branches or to cut down a small tree. Matches obviously to light a fire and a tarp to collect rain water and can be used for other purposes.
Now the island will most likely be a raining shit hole and you won't have anything to burn because your fuel will be constantly soaked. You need the hacksaw to cut down small trees and then cut into logs so you can start a drying process.
