Who /musicals/ in here?

I figure since I already have no friends or girlfriend I might as well indulge my faggy interests.
>>
I probably have some faggy interests myself, but I abhor musicals.

Satan, you're speaking my language. I love musicals, and Little Shop of Horrors is my favorite. In fact, it's what got me into musicals. I used to be absolutely obnoxious about my love of the show, but I mellowed down after my high school did a production of it where I didn't get a part and I had to watch my dreams melt away.

Sorry m8.

I always wanted to play Orin but I never got a chance.
>>
>>26660701
Musicals are great, and I can't fathom how it it is people don't like them. Is it due to a lack of exposure? How is it that Disney movies are so popular while musical-movies as a whole have been fading into irrelevance for decades?
>>
>>26660760
I wanted Orin or Mushnik, but I was desperate enough to play The First Customer. I knew all of TFC's lines, of course, so it was painful to see a peer of mine have to practice them while waiting for the bus.

These trips mark the apocalypse....
>>
I wish there was an imageboard for discussing musicals. We could trade bootlegs and destroy the fucking disgusting bootleg trading circuit that exists right now. Seriously, try dealing with them. They're awful.

Agreed x a million
>>
I study theatre and I'm a playwright.

I don't really like too many musicals, I mean they are fun and all but I just tend to prefer straight plays. Probably the "best" musical I have seen was Last Five Years but it's not a big gay musical like you guys are talking about. I like Avenue Q I guess. I don't really get musicals, I don't think.

Do you guys like regular plays too?

REEE I WANT TO SEE THE BOOK OF MORMON

>Do you guys like regular plays too?
I've actually never seen one.

I probably would though.
>>
>>26662405
I like reading them more than seeing them. A performance of a play always has things about it that show how fake it is, and always has at least some mistakes. A script can be perfect though
>>
>>26660666
Fucking yes

I am as heterosexual as the next guy but goddammit do I love broadway
>>
>>26662350
Oh, I have three or four bootlegs of that. It's a show that's recent, but not too recent.

>>26662315
I don't see regular plays because I can fill that same urge through movies or audio dramas. I have to see my musicals on stage because musical-movies are all but dead.

I like reading screenplays a lot.
>>
>>26663349
You should try reading some straight plays, they're really cool. You get to imagine the play happening like a movie instead of just the weird proscenium theater setup.
>>
>>26663349
The screenplay for The Avengers is really hard to find, but it's totally worth it. I've been hunting for the Sponge Out of Water screenplay, but I'm not sure it even exists.
>>
i must have watched that 1000 times when i was a kid
>>
>>26660763
Same reason I don't really "like" music. It's great in brief spurts, but I'd rather die than listen to music all day long. Personal preference.
>>
Never really been into musicals but I do go for opera
>>
>>26663965
Are there even English operas?
>>
>>26663787
Same.

Watched it two times the first day I saw it, then I was singing "Dentist" and "Mean Green Mother From Outer Space" for months afterwards.

Probably looked like a total retard but I didn't really care.
>>
>>26665125
Have you seen the Director's Cut, or better yet, a fan edit, or even better the original leaked workprint? Goddamn, the movie's restoration attempt was pathetic, and yet they marketed the hell out of it.
>>
I want to see Spring Awakening god dammit.
>>
>>26660792
Those are some very obscure feels, friend.
>>
>>26665250
Does that mean you can't or don't relate to them on any level?
