when will we reach cyberpunk?
>>26640748
When the energy crisis is resolved.
>>26640748
>megacorps running everything
>all your actions are recorded and logged
>Everything is connected to the internet
We're already there.
Just go to east asia
>>26640797
Then where are my robowaifus
>>26640748
>implying
The reason cyberpunk isn't fun anymore is because it's grossly similar to modern life, wagie.
>>26640748
>tfw not part of a cyber-ninja/samurai gangwar in a futuristic city
>>26640850
>VR headset
>Fleshlight
I'd say we have it better, or cheaper at least. Anyways robowaifu could accidentally kill you.
>>26640797
Nah but we're damn close. Another 5 or 10 years should do it. Once VR takes off, the governments take away to last of our privacy and cities get a bit more neon we'll be there
VR technology is taking off, prosthetic are getting more advanced and we're Japan is trying to give us robot waifus.
We're almost there.
Cyberpunk makes me feel really uncomfortable ever since I realized it's basically anarcho-capitalism
Are there any good cyber punk games? Haven't seen anything since that Syndicate reboot and that really didn't have any replayability pretty much did it all.

VR is nothing until its fully immersive
>>26641087
Not truly cyberpunk by design but ive been toldmy WIP first person gamelooks cyberpunk
webm too large to post here
>>26641087
try shadowrun

What does fully immersive mean to you?
I guess for me it would be simulating the five senses, which I'll admit we are years off. Sight is easily solvable with enough pixels. Sound is also pretty easy with some quality speakers. Smell has never been very popular but could be emulated given time. Taste would be a bit more tricky but still reasonable. Touch however is just in a whole nother universe of complexity though, being able to stimulate nerves on specific points of your entire body or at least the sensation would be extremely complex.
So yeah, VR lacks a lot. When we can truly connect our brains to a computer we'll know we have made it. Until then I'll compromise and use what we have currently, and notify you when we do finally arrive at your definition of immersion.

its the non humans like dwarves and elves and magic and shit that bothers me about that one
i like the fantasy genre like both high and low.
i like cyber punk but i just can't get into a cyberpunk/fantasy mix. steam punk/fantasy fuck yeah! but cyberpunk with magic and shit just aint my speed. (totally ignoring that KoToR was one of my favorite games, maybe I'm being hypocritical) but star wars doesn't really count imo
>>26640748
never because people want more suburban sprawls instead of commie blocks
>>26641087
I had fun with Read Only Memories, but it's point and click so your mileage may vary.
we're cyberpunk right now.
Currently there is a civil war going on on the internet.
None of you faggots are paying attention though because this is fucking brave new world.
Have fun with your stupid animes.
>>26641515
>civil war on the internet
KEK
Thanks, son, I needed that laugh.
You motherfuckers need to go outside
>>26641515
It's pre-cyberpunk right now.
>>26641047
You mean like people in the 1950s thought we'd be loving on the moon by the year 2000? Face it, people always overestimate the future.
>>26640748
It's already begun, friend. It will only accelerate.
>>26641769
The law of accelerating returns faggot. Your bloody smartphone is a BILLION times more powerful and a THOUSAND times cheaper than the most powerful computer of 1950. That's a fucking TRILLION fold increase you bloody wanker.
We need to wait a little more until drones develop and start patrolling the streets instead of cops.
