If I had friends come to my house to sleepover when I was like 7-10 I would steal their stuff and hide it, play with it after they'd gone, and then a few days later tell them I'd found it and give it back to them. I was a real scumbag kid.

This desu, most old people love that shit. I work with old people and quite often they dont get much interaction with people, especialy kids (ones that arent little shits), so the interactions they do have mean a lot to them.

Had a real actual human gf since then. But it took one year of her lusting after me and her friends basically holding me down and getting me to ask her out to make something of it. Even then it failed because of my inability to perceive human emotions.
She invited me to her birthday party and made a big deal of making sure I was there but I took it to mean I was caught up in the magnitude of a group invite and so instead I spent my time at home on Fallout 3.

Makes me so sad. Sometimes when i work with them, old people can be really annoying. But usually you can get past that and they are sweet. I've also found that they are generally quite patient with spergy people and are just happy to chat, so if any of you want to try to improve your social skills, try a conversation about the weather with a lonely looking oldie

I feel really empathy for a lot of loners, but I lack the social skills to really talk to them. I feel their pain, but I can't be the one to talk to them, I'm too sperg.

a femanon friend of mine volunteers at a nursing home. she talks to the old people and they look forward to talking to her every week. She means the world to them, especially since most of the residents' families hardly ever visit.
She commented that a lot of the volunteers are students who are there to fulfill mandatory volunteer hours at a local college. They just sit at tables and play on the cell phone to log their mandatory hours. If they would just talk to someone for 10 minutes, it would make a huge difference, but they don't.

I actually started off to fill mandatory hours (although i chose to do the module, and we chose where to work), then stayed on as a volunteer, then was just lucky enough that a paid role in the charity i work for came up, so i took it.
A simple conversation, or even a passing smile can really make a difference. Many of the people i speak to havent spoken to people in months, so even the tiniest interaction can make or break their day. If its the only interaction you have it means a lot
