Was a Jehovah's Witness for the first 18 years of my life, utterly destroyed my social and sexual development.

Ask me anything.

Also past-faith thread/discussion.
>>
>>26615775
We had Jehovas witness here.

I never liked them, they creeped me out, and it turned out my instant reaction was natural.

They were smooth manipulating chads pretending to be extremely friendly, saw them for 3 years around town, and eventually it came out they were banging almost every girl, mainly including underage girls.

I suppose you are doing it wrong anon.
>>
>>26615775
How is JW different from Protestanism or Catholicism and how did it impede your social development?
>>
>>26615824
>I don't qualify for chad, officer

I was the creepy one trying to fuck only the pretty Johoes, whilst they 'dated' these chads and were 'chaperoned' by the parents.

Literally all of the girls I knew (that I tried to get with) have now been married since they were 18. To much much older guys ranging from 24 to 38.
>>
>>26615897
>no birthdays
>no easter
>no christmas
>no NYE (yes even that is a thing)
>no 'worldly' friends or parties ever

Worldly is what they call people who aren't in the 'truth'. Yes, they refer to their faith as the truth'.
>>
Thanks for making respectable clothing autism-tier.

Why couldn't you guys have dressed like this and made this type of fashion autism tier?
>>
>>26615950
and FYI, I didn't get along with the chads nor the bible geeks, being able to relate to Rod and Todd Flanders is only ever a bad thing
>>
Mormons are the fucking worst. Like down syndrome people that actively advocate down syndrome.
>>
>>26615976
I wouldn't exactly look at anyone in those clothes and immediately assume they were autistic Johoes. It's more the blank eyes and forced smile that give it away.
>>
>>26615775

I went to Mormon Church up till 20 years old. Was constantly told how Satan would tempt me to break my chastity at parties and in the back seat of cars. Fuckin liars, all of them.
>>
>>26616090
It's the smugness that get's me. In the hall because god forbid we call it a church) we would be so happy for ourselves and yet so condescending, throwing pseudo-science around to 'disprove' the big bang and evolution.
>>
>>26616149

Older Mormons believed in old earth (James E. Talmage). Big Bang and relativity is in institute manuals when discussing the universe. I was being edgy because I'm disappointed that I never had those opportunities to "sin". So much for "free agency". But yeah, I no longer go. I went in a different spiritual direction and would probably be called a heretic today.
>>
>>26616149
*(because god forbid we call it a church)
sorry about the missing parenthese

here's a lil story

>be me a couple of years ago, 21
>I work in corporate live events as an AV tech
>mainly law, investors and financial advisory crap
>some interesting some not
>some of the times we also do massive medical conferences
>tonnes of doctors come in and teach nurses about new techniques and medicines coming up
>I'm sitting in on one of the presentations
>'How to deal with a Jehovah's Witness patient.'
>okay this should be interesting
>the whole gist of it was how to explain, politely and in a comforting manner, that if you need a blood transfusion, death is the only thing that awaits
>mrw I realise that half of my close and extended family will died rather than use a simple cure, even if it's their child

Shits fucked dude...
>>
>>26615775

Since fapping is the only sexual release available to me, and Mormonism forbids fapping in favor of wedlock intercourse (but somehow birth control is a-okay with the Bishop come recommend time), I gave up on Mormonism. It has some good doctrines though, but is stuck in Victorian thinking when it comes to sex.
>>
>>26616253
Fuck off with your unnatural jew-practice.

If god wants someone dead you have to accept it, not make a deal with the demoncorp... Oh excuse me, Big pharma and Big guy Hospital who murders people, and keep the sick for nasty profit.
>>
>>26616454
Ok, please die quietly and don't present to my ED when you're sick then faggot.
>>
>>26616478
See! I told you they are secretly sadistic servants of the devil.
>>
>>26616429
>Op still here

Yeah masturbating was weird for me. Looking at porn was a major sin too. So I decided that humping scrunched up pillows didn't count, and just did that for ages. Fucked me up real good in terms of being able to get off properly with women. Or get off properly at all.

>>26616454

It ain't my practice, son, chill
>>
>>26615775
>destroyed my social and sexual development

No it didn't. You're just a failure. Stop making excuses for being a piece of shit.
>>
>>26615775
yeah, social indoctrination sucks, how did you break out of it?
>>
>>26616616
>be 22 on 55k a year job living on beach side apartment with loving gf whom I fuck the ever loving shit out of daily

You're right, I reckon I could make more, thanks anon for your inspiration

>>26616638

Just kind of clicked together. The only true friends I had were 'worldly'. The only girls that showed me some attention were 'worldly' (although I had fuck all ability to interact with them without coming across as a total autist). The only true interests I had were 'worldly', such as music and engineering, not that they discouraged music, but fuck singing hymns. Creeps the hell out of me.

I reckon I still have a lot of catching up to do.

What was your old faith?
>>
>>26616765
Sounds like God got you this great life for age 22. You better thank Him.
>>
>>26615824
>and eventually it came out they were banging almost every girl, mainly including underage girls.

That's the thing. I wonder if I'm doing it wrong. All the religious people I read about have affairs, parties, power, and lots of sex. I'm secular, but alone.
>>
>>26616807

Pfft, why not! I mean I could just 'sin' for the rest of my life, because as soon as I ask for forgiveness he's pretty much obliged to take it.

>>26616825

Well I was on the same boat. Hearing all these stories of mass poontang, legal or not, just got depressing after a while. No Joho would be in the slightest attracted to me. But I was never allowed to communicate with girls in private so not much I could do there. J-dubs are big on the ole chaperone bs
>>
>>26616925
Conflagration---to continue to do what you are not supposed to do, knowing it is a sin, to premeditatively ask for forgiveness---you are a fool if you think you can work some sort of "loophole" with the Great Creator's Forgiveness. He shakes His head at anyone who thinks this will work.

Remember, everything that you have gained can be lost. Just as the rooster clucked, these words will ring like a BELL in your mind one day, unless you change your ways, my friend.
>>
>>26616765
>singing hymns. Creeps the hell out of me.
I was forced to do this every morning assembly when I attended boarding school, that lasted until age 16 when I left. It was so out of place as they didn't even teach RE and the school wasn't particularly religious otherwise.

The only thing I learnt during those hymns was how to mime.
>>
>>26615775
Same here, left when I was 19. I was so depressed in there and I had literally no social skills. I went to college after leaving so I was kind of forced to socialise, after a few years I became a lot more confident and now I'm pretty normie.

I don't know if it's the same for you but I just felt trapped in there and like I couldn't be myself cause of all the stupid rules. Also I found it hard to get over my friends I'd had since childhood not talking to me. Im 25 now and I barely think about it. Life is definitely better outside the 'truth'

Damn dude, that's pretty spot on. I felt so isolated from them and I'm not going to blame my mental health on it, does run in the family, but it certainly didn't help.

Must ask though, how do you cope seeing family that are still a part of it? Mines divided down the middle; dad's side agnostic, mum's side and sister JW, so I get some relief with dad, but I still love my family. I don't really know how to act though.
>>
>>26617170
Seriously if your mouth wasn't moving to the song they would give you detention or make you sing in front of the whole school.

My mother was raised as one, horribly abused as a kid. Had strict rules, became pregnant to escape.
Did your parents raise you as a witness? Any absurdities?
>>

ffs I sung it in my head as I read it

It's like a tumour on the soul.

JW's don't believe in the Trinity so they're non-Christians
Like Muslims basically
>>
>>26615775
What's the matter heathen? Upset you missed out on those meaningless worldly pleasures?
>>
My step dad is a jw, he's basically the epitome of a middle aged nice guy.

I don't think I've ever heard him mention his religion voluntarily, he acts and talks like anyone else. His mum is a massive jw and I get the feeling that's the only reason why he still goes. She'll be dead soon though.

>Guy who couldn't get any tries to justify it as a religious belief.
You are not fooling anyone, bro.
>>
>>26617274
I honestly never had a problem with my family. my mum was pretty angry at me at first but she left like a year later. Her and my brother were the only ones who were jw. My bro has autism so I think he likes to think he still is one, but he doesn't go. I think He sometimes plays football with them on Wednesdays

I know some people who have been kicked out/disowned after leaving, they weren't even disfellowshipped. I guess it just depends on the parents how they'll react. I was just honest with my mum when I first left and I think she could see how depressed I was and understood my reasons for leaving. I think she regrets raising us as witnesses, she had a pretty fucked up life and ended up finding jws and seeing it as a secure place so decided to raise us in there.
>>
>>26617297
That was the weird thing. Dad flung around being an atheist or agnostic, mum hardcore JW but only after they got hitched and sister followed on. But dad just sat back and let it happen, I suppose he couldn't think of any repercussions. Which I kind of understand; not being involved in drugs or violence or premature pregnancies would be pretty reassuring for a middle class man. Mum and dad split eventually. Didn't say anything about it but I know dad divorced mum because she could never go out and do anything.
But during said marriage, we travelled and had fun and did things as a family. It was just the whole 'no other things that aren't JW related' policy that was a bummer.
I mean, dad showed me Led Zep and ACDC when I was 10 and I remember being blown away at how cool rock sounded, I also remember how pissed mum was. Didn't get to hear that very often for a while. Dad was the 'cool' parent I guess. Didn't get to see people often, had to study the bible every day, couldn't focus on a good career ever because if you go to uni that's quasi-blasphemous. And the congregation were all snobs, bitches and chads, self righteous arseholes who made their own 'worldly' environment so that it came across as sacred. Just couldn't anymore.

But yeah, I think your absurdities trump mine
>>
>>26617458
>My bro has autism so I think he likes to think he still is one, but he doesn't go.

Do they have something against autism?
>>
>>26615775
if it makes you feel any better, i was raised by normal people and my social and sexual development was destroyed anyways
>>
>>26617458
I couldn't look at my mum as I told her I couldn't be a witness any more, so many tears and screams of hysteria. The looks for doom for her son, it was so genuine to her, but so fake to me. And still is. But she is convinced I'll be back.

>>26617439

By no means does she blurt it out, but she does slide it into conversation that doesn't merit it in the slightest. It's just cringey to me now.

Sonic was the only game I was allowed to play as a kid because anything else could be satanic/worldly.

Basically that is why there were so many Autistic Christians obsessed with sonic because a whole generation of secluded kids were only allowed to play sonic.
>>
>>26617480
No they are all for disabilities. It makes for a great 'one day you'll be normal' trope.
>>
>>26617515
Do/did your parents like to party and get drunk every weekend? Not like college tier parting but still consuming too many units non the less?

I swear that's what turned me off alcohol, I have deeply rooted issues when it comes to how drinking changes peoples behavior just from how it changes my parents.
>>
>>26617596

I could believe that. I did love Sonic Adventure 2. Absolutely adored that game.
>>
>>26617598
I mean do they think its some kind of higher power punishing them or something like they do in some places?
>>
>>26617622

Nah they were pretty conservative, I mean dad loved his wine collection and would easily finish a bottle a night. But he never got too drunk, or at least not too drunk for me to notice/for him to do anything noticeable.
>>
>>26617642
Still remember the code to access all the levels in the first 3 games. At start menu: up, down, left, right, hold a, start.
>>
>>26617645

No, not at all. It's far more perceived as a test than it is a punishment. But also you have to be grateful for everything. So to me that kind of bites itself on the butt.

I was raised mormon. Even went to BYU. Hated every minute of that filthy school. Left school and got a great job 1.5 years ago and life's been great ever since.

Any anecdotes?

Do the students fuck?
>>

I don't know of any and I was there for 6 years. If people knew you were having sex outside of marriage you'd be ostracized.

Meanwhile I converted to Mormonism and left my degenerate ways (had sex before joining and was drinking and smoking too dang much) and will get a qt virgin wife afterall.

>> JHWs lax version of Mormons

Elaborate, because one is a cult that lets member die because "lul no blood transfusion" and destroys family - the other is a pretty based church that does charity all over the world and tells its convert to do their best to be close with their family even when the family members aren't members.
>>
Only interaction with JWs happened when I was 11.

> At Grandma's house
> Hear a knock on the door
> Open it and find two JWs creepily smiling at me
> Talk about how wonderful Jesus is and give me a pamphlet

>>
>>26618226
If you say so.

The thing is that I actually know both sides.

I know the people and life outside of church and I know the life inside of church.

I made my pick against degeneracy and for Christ and eternal life.
>>
>>26615950
>Yes, they refer to their faith as the truth
Wew, so like every single religion on this planet.
>>
>>26615824
It's funny how mormons and jehovah's witnesses are always about a few guys fucking all the (underage) girls, like every other cult.
>>
>>26618061

Hm. I will elaborate, especially since that's quite a good point.

The lax version was far more geared towards the strictness from the parents for their children. Seems far more over protective than JWs, and seemingly more restrictive on their childrens' ability to grow up on their own merit.

As for the cult comment, I'm not sure I see it that way, unless you define any faith as a cult. The reasoning behind no blood transfusions isn't trivial. It's simply a horrid sin to drink the blood of another human being, so what would make it okay to inject into yourself? The analogy I got plummelled into me was a doctor told you to stop drinking alcohol or else you will die, does it make it okay to inject it? No of course not. I agree it does seem petty, and of course there are dead children involved, which I am no longer part of, but it isn't out-of-the-blue, if you get me.
Also, JWs do good things for charity, like response aid for developing countries and disasters and such, but it is all for their own agenda, they will only help JWs overseas.

In the end though, I just genuinely don't believe in god.
>>
>>26618346
No, they're more actively saying, 'oh he's joined the 'truth'', 'we're going to the meeting to learn the 'truth'', it's so good to be a part of the 'truth''.

You get me?
>>
>>26618061
And I must ask, what was so degenerate about your former life?
