I tried to write a childrens book a few years ago, OP. The problem I have is lack of creativity.
I took 13 days off work (most of the holiday I get) to make the first draft of the book. My eventual 'idea' was a fucking 20 page long, poorly drawn draft of a 'book' about a bottle of extra virgin olive oil who gets bullied by the other oils in the kitchen for not being as thick and tasty, even the Sunflower oil has a page where he beats him up.
My main 'hook' was to actually drip the different oils onto the pages so when you have the scene where the olive oil wets himself from fear of going to the toilet when the vegetable oil and coconut oil are talking outside about how many steaks they seared that night would have the pages smeared in olive oil. I wrote the book, covered the pages in oil and gave it to my little cousin who called it 'really dumb and stinky'

I will admit that I'm not the greatest illustrator and I didn't spend a great deal of time on them (school projects have deadlines), but I completely disagree with your notion that those illustrations are mspaint quality. That pictures you posted is obviously mspaint, so let's be fair here.
They were all made on illustrator (vector graphics). That's why they remind you of a CG3D cartoon.
