OP, relax

I failed algebra 1 FOUR times in high-school, and I eventually went on to differential calc and linear algebra for mechanical engineering in college

math just takes practice and work, you can do it

don't give up

>tfw got a c- in differential equations
>this is apparently unacceptable at the uni level despite over half the class failing

3.0 CORE GPA OR DISMISSAL WEW
>>
>>26601969
You gotta start from somewhere. Is calculus 101 a calculus pre req with trig shit or is it calculus 1 where there's derivatives and integrals?

Didn't you get practice problem?
>>
>>26601927

I'm actualy smarter other people, but they are good at dumbly cramming things into their head, my inteligence is more phylosophical, i watch documentaries and shit and try to UNDERSTAND how things work but that obviously isn't what this degenrate society wants
>>
>>26602012
We start with the pre-req than to the later stuff.

We have practice problems, but I can't get any of them right.

I'm pulling a 95 but as I understand it, precalc and calc are apples and oranges

Get a tutor senpai irk about you but the only studying ever get 1hour is from my parents mathematician friend I've pass all my Uni courses easy too, I guess it's just because I'm able to ask him question that I don't ask the prof
>>
>>26602069
calculus is easier than precalculus
>>
>>26601668
I also failed Calculus in college. Had to take the class all over again.

Eventually with study I made it. I tend to make a lot of mistakes ven though my general train of tought is correct. Barely scraped by, but no fucks given. Don't give up
>>
>>26601991
Retarded. It's like 90 percent effort.
>have several classes with a girl we'll call J
>J is objectively smarter than me. Not by much, but she definitely grasps concepts faster.
>I'm pulling a 3.8, so I figure she's got a 4.0.
>I study my ass off every day, work ridiculously hard.
>she's lazy as fuck. Misses at least one day a week.
>but I figure it's no big deal because when she's in class she's always on point.
>she barely passes - literally only because the teacher decided to round her grade up.
>meanwhile, I pull a 96.5%
>and a third guy, a gym bro crossfit instructor trying to snag a degree
>asks the dumbest questions, constantly needs help from both of us
>has difficulty grasping basic concepts
>this dude pulls a 97.2

All because he worked his ass off, harder than either of us, by a long shot. J told me later that she didn't MI d me scoring higher than her because I'm smart, but she was downright embarrassed by doing worse than him. I told her I was thrilled that I even came close to a guy with that kind of ethic.

Telling youself it's beyond your control is nothing but a strategy for ducking responsibility.

Fuck, I hope so. I just bombed my first exam - in a different class - so my confidence is shaky as fuck right now.
>>
>>26602062
Yes, society would greatly benefit from more people sitting around "understanding things."
>>
>>26602329
It did. And it's hilarious. She's in a different class with me now and she's doing the same shit, wondering why her grades are crap. I don't have any classes with crossfit bro this quarter but I see him every now and then.

>exam last week
>she couldn't finish it in time
>freaks out the next day because her homework is shit
>I sit next to her and pretend to commiserate but quietly think she's getting exactly what she deserves
>>
>taking college classes to qualify for university
>get a week to write a 15 page assignment on cryptography
>dish out 16 pages of university-level number theory in 2 days while stoned off my gourd on weed
>turned it in yesterday

I know I'll get a B at least. I often wonder how well I'd do if I wasn't high all the time.
>>
>>26601969
Hey I'm back.

Did you try to get help from a teacher or prof or a peer? What do you think is making it difficult to understand the concepts for you?
>>
>>26602395
I agree with you. I have a life long friend who's doing a non stem major. I think they are objectively more intelligent than me, but they seem to have no drive to be successful. Meanwhile i'm doing stem, and getting moderately good grades by just putting in an appropriate amount of work.
>>
>>26601668
Git gud
I just barely got a B over a 6wk winter course
>tfw I had to master integrals and several theorems in less than 3 days

>Took Calc 1, passed with a D.
>Took Calc 2, passed with a D.
>Took Calc 3, failed.
I'm currently retaking it, but the damage has been done. My gpa is a 1.6, if I don't turn things around this semester, I'm probably gonna get kicked out of uni.
>>
>>26602062
If you understood how calculus works, you wouldn't have failed. Even not knowing trig derivatives or the more advanced rules, you still would've got enough partial credit to pass. And there is no fucking reason why you can't memorize like 6 simple things anyway.

Also, you can manipulate the sin->cos and the cos->-sin derivative to get the others anyway.
>>
>>26602069
You'll do fine, cal 1 is really easy.

I actually found all the calculus classes to lead intuitively into each other. While they weren't "easy," I definitely didn't get overwhelmed like in some other classes.
>>
>failed first algebra two times
>take it again
>know a lot of it
>professor suggest i change my major to math
>laugh and tell her no
>graduate and never had to know shit about finding shapes and stuff
>fail and redo it to get good at it

good luck next semester i suck at math in general
