I visited Paris a few weeks before the big attacks. It was a lovely place, the people were very kind to me before meeting my racist and idiot grandfather. There was some sort of big dubstep event/rave in the streets that was rather jarring. My grandfather and I got shoved into a street mosh pit but other than that I really loved my stay.

As an American I can confirm this, our transportation system is absolute shit. Every fucking non massive city is determined to build outward as much as possible instead of building upwards. They put no effort or thought into making bus stations accessible or even consider trains as a viable option despite my hometown having a fucking train station that hasn't been used in decades.
I know France's transport is relatively messy compared to the rest of Europe but next to the United States it's a fucking godsend to not have to own a car and drive everywhere spending shit tons on gas and resisting the daily urge to murder yourself and your whole family while in traffic.
