Why haven't you all realized that the epitome of happiness won't be found in advancing technology or exploring the stars? True happiness can only be found in the simplicity of farm life.
My aunt and uncle run a goat farm in Lancaster, PA. They aren't Amish, but they do believe in the philosophy of living simply. Every time I visit, it's comfy as fuck.

My dad has worked on all sorts of farms so I know how it feels to live the farm life.
Unfortunately farming in general is a depressing industry right now. Small farms are becoming completely unsustainable and people who don't adapt to expensive technology are losing their homes. It's extremely shit to be forced to give up something you grew up watching your parents take care of and that you dreamed of one day taking over Farmers also have high rates of depression and quite often they're reclusive people.
The days of stuff like milking cows by hand are basically gone now. Dairies feel a lot like a factory now.
Living in the country is nice though
I want to have a career and move to a farm for a simpler life once im ready for kids
Then open my own book/candy/toy store and do house work for my husband who works on the farm and writes books
